Hernandez misses a great chance to equalise for Leverkusen.

Real midfielder Luka Modric goes into the book for a high boot on Ignacio Camacho. Zinedine Zidane looks a bit stressed on the sidelines. Is this the end of their title challenge? They are nine points behind Barca as it stands. 

Juanpi is away down the right again, but Sergio Ramos is across to block his attempted cross. Real now on the attack and Isco has the ball in the net, but with the Malaga defence pushing up, he is offside. 

Le's be honest, Malaga have deserved that. Now can they go better and win it, thereby throwing Real's title challenge way off course? Real have understandably stepped up their passing now.

Leverkusen are trying to turn their frustration at events into a goal but can't force a way through.

I don't think the story is going to be about the football, though.

There are five minutes to go plus at least eight minutes of stoppage time to cover the period the game was suspended.

Great impact from Pablo Fornals, who weaves his way through the Real defence, shoots goalwards but watches his shot deflect off Sergio Ramos for a corner. Real head that clear. 

Ricardo Horta, having missed a couple of decent chances, is off for Malaga and is replaced by Pablo Fornals. I should have also mentioned that Real have also made a change, Lucas Vasquez is on for Jese. 

Real riding their luck at the back again as Roberto Rosales attempts to chip Keylor Navas. Moments later Isco is up at the back post but his header is wide.

At the other end, Isco's shot is blocked by Miguel Torres. The Malaga defence has been impressive today, their keeper especially. 

Juanpi causing more problems for Real, this time his shot is blocked and it falls to Duje Cop on the edge of the box, but his attempt is well over. A decent half-chance that. 

Malaga keeper Carlos Kameni shows that he's well worth his place today too. This time he saves Cristiano Ronaldo's fiercely hit shot at the near post. 

Nacho is getting the rough treatment every time he goes up for a set-piece. Malaga will have to watch themselves. Meanwhile Ignacio Camacho goes into the book after clipping Marcelo. 

Juanpi is on the charge and draws a foul down the right flank. Good position, this for a free-kick but it's low and Real easily clear. 

What a save by Keylor Navas, he's earning his corn today. Ricardo Horta collects the ball deep down the left, looks up to cross and it takes a nick off Real defender Nacho and is heading into goal before Navas intervenes.

Leverkusen coach Roger Schmidt has now left his technical area, which appears to have been the sticking point.

Not much German efficiency on show here.
