That was better from Fabio Borini.

After two scruffy long-rangers, the Italian very nearly finds third time is the charm.

His sweet strike from 18 yards, just fails to curl enough to find the top corner with Kasper Schmeichel beaten all ends up.

Leicester are fire-fighting at the moment.

  2. Rangers go for the mini-doublepublished at 14:39 British Summer Time 10 April 2016

Scottish Championship winners Rangers play Peterhead in the Scottish Challenge Cup final at 15:00 BST.

That's the trophy for sides not in the top-flight, so it's the last year Rangers will be eligible to compete in it.

Standing in the way of Mark Warburton's side is part-time Peterhead, who sit second in League One.

Chris Painter: 1-0 wins. Sign of a team closing out tight games - or one running out of puff and limping over the line? Can Spurs pounce..?

R Johnson: I've moved from behind the curtains to behind the sofa. Very tense here in Canada.

He has three capital letters already, but DeAndre Yedlin sees the chance to put his name into even bigger type.

As the ball sits up 35 yards out though, his ambitious half-volley goes flying towards Row Z.

Fabio Borini with another chance from  the edge of the box, but that shot is a bit of an apology, slithering meekly wide.

    Sunderland have started brightly.

Fabio Borini is picked out on the right flank by a ball forward by Jan Kirchoff. The Italian ignores some forward darts from Jermain Defoe and Wahbi Khazri, cutting in and seeing a shot deflected over for a corner.

Adam, Southend: It seems obvious to me even as a neutral that refs don't want to go down in history as 'the man who cost Leicester the fairytale title'. The amount of penalties that haven't been given against them in recent weeks has been shocking.

Michael, Leicester: It's only going to be a miracle if Leicester actually earn the league rather than being given it through their immunity to conceding spot-kicks.

Southampton manager Ronald Koeman was incensed last week by the failure to give his side two penalties against Leicester. Certainly one - Danny Simpson's handball from Sadio Mane's shot - looked difficult to deny.

If the remake The Rock - and they really should - then Younes Kaboul just had a strong 45-minute audition.

The former Tottenham defender has made 13 clearances in the first half, by far the most of any player on the pitch.

Wes Morgan is next best with six.

"Sunderland just about edged that first 45 minutes, They've done well to contain Vardy and Mahrez and have to continue to work as hard in the second half - while also somehow finding more from Defoe and Khazri as well."

Fabio Borini gets away a snap-shot from a tight angle and inside the box and Kasper Schmeichel gets down sharply to turn it away with his right palm.

There was a deflection for him to deal with in there as well.

If Robert Huth's touch in his own box was not a spot-kick, that wasn't.

Riyad Mahrez's shot thunders into Younes Kaboul's elbow, but the Sunderland defender had turned his back and had his arms by his side.

    Anthony Taylor says no.

Jamie Vardy opts to swing for a hip-high glory volley on the edge of the area from Shinji Okazaki's cross, but might have had time to take the ball down and create an easier opening for himself.

Leicester have had a storm to ride out.

And it looks like the have taken the sting out of Sunderland's little period of pressure.

Claudio Ranieri will take the break now and a chance to soothe his players.

It has been frenetic out there. Both teams playing at the tempo their league position demands.

Ex-Sunderland defender Gary Bennett at the Stadium of Light

"If Sunderland can get the ball out wide left to Patrick van Aanholt again there's been loads and loads of room. There was a definite handball by Huth in the area there (see 36 mins). It should have been a penalty."
