Angel Rangel clips the ball forward, but there's a little too much mustard on that for Wayne Routledge and it rolls out for a goalkick.

"There a sombre sense of reflection at the Liberty Stadium, where Liverpool play their first league match since Tuesday's verdict concluded the 96 Liverpool fans who died in the 1989 Hillsborough disaster were unlawfully killed.

"A minute's applause will be held before kick-off, while match day announcer and Swansea club chaplain Kevin Johns will speak as part of the tribute.

"There is also a page in the match programme devoted to the victims and their families, ahead of what should be a moving start to today's game."

Fair to say Big Jurg is not a fan of this unconventional kick-off time.

"We could have started at two or four, so four hours more and that sounds absolutely okay," he says. "It is Sunday, all English people will have lunch and we play football.

"I am pretty sure no one slept immediately when we got home (in the early hours of Friday). It wouldn't make sense to start with the same line-up. We need fresh legs and fresh minds at Swansea."

Good question, and I'm glad you asked. The 18-year-old Spaniard has already appeared for the Reds in a Europa League tie against Bordeaux and FA Cup games against Exeter and West Ham.

He's a defensive midfielder by trade. I'm told.

  9. A less intense Liverpool?published at 11:40

    Alistair Mann
    MOTD commentator

"Sandwiched between the two legs of their finely balanced Europa League semi-final, Liverpool will be forgiven for approaching this game with a great deal less intensity than you would normally associate with a Jurgen Klopp side.

"With relegation pressures having evaporated, it perhaps offers Swansea the opportunity to record a rare victory against a team they've beaten only once since returning to the top division in 2011.

"Having effectively completed his short-term mission, Francesco Guidolin's future has now become the main focus of the Welsh footballing scribes.

"If, as they predict, the Italian will be moving on in the summer, he will certainly be very keen to have as high a Premier League finish as possible on his CV, as well as a victory over Liverpool."

"I'm going for 1-1. The Europa League is the priority for Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, so with this game coming between both legs of their semi-final, I am expecting him to field some of his fringe players.

"But even if Liverpool are not at full strength, Swansea will have to be much-improved on their showing against Leicester last weekend.

"Like Stoke, they are another team who are now safe and some of their players might have half an eye on Euro 2016. Plus it does not help that the future of their manager, Francesco Guidolin, is in doubt too."

  14. The golden glow...published at 11:30

So far, there has been something of a golden glow surrounding Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool.

An extraordinary 4-3 win over Borussia Dortmund in the Europa League was followed up by a 4-0 trouncing of Everton in the Merseyside derby.

But since then, they've hit a little bump in the road, drawing 2-2 with Newcastle and suffering a last-gasp defeat to Villarreal. Can they get back to winning ways?
