I'm not focusing on Barcelona's [poor] run. Atletico want to fight against the best teams and this is the day to do something big against Barcelona and stay in this competition which we love so much.

Being an Atletico is being persistent, competitive, not giving up and fighting against the difficulties. That is our strength, knowing that we have rivals that are better than us and that from this situation, we consider ourselves competitive to fight against them.

If there is a team capable of coping with the Vicente Calderon atmosphere, it's Barca. The better the atmosphere, the more motivation the players have. We have a small advantage but the tie remains open and we will try to win the match as always.

Barcelona forward Lionel Messi said on Facebook, external: "Our mindset remains the same. We work hard all year to have a chance of winning trophies at the end of the season. We continue to believe in ourselves."

He got 600,000 likes that for that inane nonsense.

I give my Facebook friends *gold* like a picture of my Pepsi Max or Bulmers Berry cupboard and I get 0.001% of that.

What, we all have Pepsi Max and Bulmers Berry cupboards, don't we?

Bayern Munich defender Medhi Benatia has been left at home to help him recover from an injury today.

Well that's the official line anyway.

Some German journalists claim the 28-year-old rocked up to the airport before realising he'd forgotten his passport.

However the Morocco international went on Facebook, external to "deny this information" and insist it was just to regain fitness.

We will have to play on the edge in terms of defensive organization. We’ll find a tremendously tough team, a candidate to win this competition. They play the same at home and away, so we have to play to our limits and be bold offensively.

We know Benfica better after the first game. We know what we have to do and how we have to play. We have to defend well and when we have the ball, we have to create chances. If we score a goal, we'll take a big step towards the semi-finals.

Bayern Munich must have thought they were in for a comfortable night - and tie in general - when Arturo Vidal headed home within two minutes of the first leg.

But they were lethargic after that and Benfica defended solidly to give themselves a chance of reaching the semi-finals.

After just over half an hour of their quarter-final first leg, things were looking so good for Atletico Madrid.

Fernando Torres had given them the lead at the Nou Camp and they were playing well.

But then Torres - in a microcosm of his career - went from ledge to dredge (not sure that works). Star to bizarre? Phenomenon to black swan?, external Poacher to choker?

I guess there's a reason everyone uses hero to zero, so let's stick with that.

In any case, Fernando 'did a Torres' and messed everything up by being sent off for two bookings.

They held on for about half an hour but a Luis Suarez double gave Barca a slim advantage going into tonight's game.

    French Ligue 1

Marseille have been put up for sale by Margarita Louis-Dreyfus, she has confirmed tonight.

The Ligue 1 giants - only above the relegation zone by six points - have been owned by Louis-Dreyfus with her late husband Robert since 1996.

"The moment a buyer is chosen, I will inform the mayor and the supporters about it," she said.

"The price isn't my primary concern."

Right, there's a few thousand of you reading this page. If we all put €10 in each, we can probably make a takeover bid. Everyone in?

Benfica are without their major goal pest Jonas tonight through suspension.

The 32-year-old has scored 30 goals in 29 league appearances this season as well as two Champions League strikes.

Bayern boss Pep Guardiola didn't exactly have the violins out, instead reminiscing on a few weeks earlier in 2016 when his side had one fit centre-back.

"We played last month's important matches without key central defenders. When we talk about the situations of the teams, then we have had bigger problems," Guardiola said.

  20. 'We're not scared of you'published at 18:49 British Summer Time 13 April 2016

Atletico Madrid v Barcelona (19:45 BST)

    Andy Brassell
European football expert on BBC Radio 5 live, speaking on Monday night

"Diego Simeone doesn't rotate that much because he feels he has found his best XI. The most interesting thing about the La Liga weekend was that Atletico Madrid made one change at Espanyol from the Champions League team that played Barcelona.

"When you think how much physical effort was required in that game at the Camp Nou, it is a huge statement.

"This is Simeone saying 'we are not scared of you'. We are still in this fight for the league title. They haven't thrown the towel in. They are in good form and it is going to be a titanic battle."
