Stuart Pearce has just steamed into a tackle. Perfectly timed stuff from the Forest and England left-back. It's fair to say Forest are comfortable. Burns and Walker are looking commanding.

Craig Ramage is already thinking about making changes to the Derby side. Dean Saunders is being asked to warm up. Rammers is not happy with his Rams.

John McGovern has been booked for repeated fouls. Would not bet against us seeing a red card or two here.

Forest goalkeeper Peter Shilton hasn't had a lot to do in the opening stages.

Shilton won 125 caps for England, but his focus and determination to succeed matched his ability during a remarkable 30-year playing career. 

Shilton, who also played for the Rams of course, used to hang from his banisters when he was growing up because he was worried he would not be tall enough.

We are not sure if it helped. He never quite reached 6ft but was one hell of a goalkeeper.

Plenty of challenges flying around in midfield. Not much quality on display so far.

As expected there's a frantic nature to the midfield battle. Forest showing they can be smart and, dare I say it, cynical when the need demands.

Archie Gemmill concedes a free-kick at the other end but it comes to nothing.

First foul committed by Forest's John McGovern came after 30 seconds. That could well set the tone. Derby have started brightly.

We are under way here in Nottingham. It's fair to describe the atmosphere as a perfect mix of anticipation and nervy caution. Forest's Brian Laws looks the calmer of the two managers. Maybe the Cloughy factor has rubbed off. 

But there is a defiance emanating from Derby boss Craig Ramage. He is clearly relishing this challenge.
