    Liverpool 2-0 Everton

Great call from the linesman as he spotted the foul straight away. It looked relatively innocuous from a distance but replays show just how nasty a challenge it was. Hopefully not a broken ankle for Divock Origi, who is taken off on a stretcher.

  2. RED CARD FOR EVERTONpublished at 49 mins

    Liverpool 2-0 Everton

We are not even five minutes into the second half and it has gone from bad to worse for Everton. A straight red for Ramiro Funes Mori as he challenges Divock Origi but stands on the striker's ankle. Nasty.

  3. KICK-OFFpublished at 46 mins

    Liverpool 2-0 Everton

A change for Everton as the second half gets under way. Gareth Barry's record-equalling appearance turns out to be a forgettable one as he is replaced by Muhamed Besic.

"Everton deal with the first corner quite well but they don't deal with the second ball in. It is total slack marking again but it was a brilliant ball from James Milner and it was a free header.

"How one of Liverpool's best and most powerful players when it comes to heading is left free, I don't know?"

    My word!

Disastrous stuff for Everton as they concede another so soon after the first. A lovely one-two in the build up as James Milner is sent away on the left. He clips the ball to the far post and the unmarked Mamadou Sakho heads home.

    Liverpool 1-0 Everton

The camera cuts to Daniel Sturridge looking a little nonplussed on the Liverpool bench. At the end of the day, you can't keep a player in the form Origi is in out of the side. Five goals in his last five games.

    Two added minutes.

GOAL - Liverpool 1-0 Evertonpublished at 42 mins

    Divock Origi

...the free-kick came to nothing but seconds later, Liverpool are ahead.

It's what they deserve but Everton will be kicking themselves at conceding this goal. James Milner is not closed down on the right and he is able to ping in a cross to the far post for Divock Origi, who rises effortlessly to nod in.

    Liverpool 0-0 Everton

Everton's first booking of the game as Aaron Lennon clips James Milner's feet and the referee gives a free-kick on the right side of the area.

    A chance for Liverpool...

    Liverpool 0-0 Everton

Not seen too much of Divock Origi tonight but he produces a lovely bit of footwork to get a shot off on goal. The end product is not the greatest, a scuffed effort into Joel Robles' hands, but lovely stuff to create the chance as he first brushes off Bryan Ovideo, wriggles past another Everton player before having a go at goal.

    Liverpool 0-0 Everton

Some poor decision making from the Everton players at times as Romelu Lukaku attempts an ambition cross-field pass, finds only a red shirt, before Bryan Oviedo does likewise seconds later.

    Liverpool 0-0 Everton

Everton's defenders should pat Joel Robles on the back. He is the only thing keeping this 0-0 at the moment.

Roberto Firmino escapes the offside trap to chase a ball over the defence and, after racing into the area, he tries to tuck a shot beyond Robles' right but the Everton keeper sticks out a boot to poke away.

"Everton defender Ramiro Funes Mori has not started the game well for Everton. He looks a bit disorganised at the moment."

Next up to try his luck for Liverpool is Philippe Countinho, but he drives a free-kick through the wall and wide of Joel Robles' near post.

"Everton are playing more on the counter-attack. You don't normally see them play this way as they are soaking up the pressure.

"They don't look as open with Gareth Barry and James McCarthy in midfield and, with Kevin Mirallas, have someone who can carry the ball forward."

  20. CLOSE!published at 25 mins

    Liverpool 0-0 Everton

So close for Liverpool! Nathaniel Clyne drills in a cross from the right. It has the power and is at the perfect height for Adam Lallana, but he powers his header inches wide.

On the touchline, Jurgen Klopp stands, fists clenched ready to celebrate, before dropping his head once he sees the ball fizz wide. He knows that was close.
