Sunderland piling on the pressure now. Wahbi Khazri bends a corner right across the face of goal but there's no-one there to apply the finishing touch. Looking again at that Kirchhoff shot, Foster saved it with his face! Right in the chops!

Here comes the Sunderland charge! Jan Kirchhoff bundles his way through two challenges and pokes a shot which Ben Foster has to save with his body. Closest we've come.

Great strength by Sandro to hold off Yann M'Vila as he threatens to wriggle into a shooting position.

West Brom want a penalty here! Craig Dawson floats in a long free-kick, and the Baggies think it's come off a Sunderland arm. Tony Pulis is apoplectic. But the replays don't show anything untoward.

Oh this is extraordinary. Roger East loses his whistle for a moment, he's still scrabbling for it when Craig Gardner takes a free-kick, and he gives Gardner a yellow card for having the impunity to take it when he wasn't looking. Dear oh dear.

That's wasteful from Darren Fletcher. Salomon Rondon finds him with a brilliant crossfield ball, and for a moment West Brom have a three-on-two, but Fletcher miscontrols and the opportunity is gone.

Another huge chance for Sunderland! Khazri again at the heart of it, releasing Lee Cattermole, who has time to take a touch, then tries to lift the ball over Ben Foster, but the keeper sticks up a glove and repels the effort.

Oh what a chance! Wahbi Khazri clips in a beautiful cross, it's right on the bonce of Jermain Defoe but the striker somehow misses it. He had to score.

Sandro releases Chester down the left, and the full-back's floated cross almost causes problems for Vito Mannone, but he manages to claw back the loopy delivery.

Jan Kirchhoff threads a lovely ball through to Jermain Defoe, who shoots on the turn, but Jonny Evans makes a good block. Sunderland on top.

Patrick van Aanholt earned only his second cap for Netherlands in the win over England and he's made a lively start here. He surges down the right wing, his opposite flank, but his touch lets him down and West Brom clear.
