For Michael Appleton's Oxford United, it's been a season of fighting on two fronts in league and cup.

Flying high in League Two, they will arrive at Wembley full of confidence having beaten two sides from League One earlier in the competition and also upsetting Premier League Swansea City in the FA Cup third round in January.

Come May, Oxfordshire may have a trophy and an automatic promotion to toast.

It's fair to say that Barnsley have had an interesting season.

The Tykes lost eight successive League One matches and were knocked out of the FA Cup by non-league Altrincham between October and late November to leave then boss Lee Johnson facing an uncertain future.

However, buoyed by their strong showings in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy, the club turned their league form around and have gone from 23rd on 14 November to the current lofty heights of seventh.

Johnson left for Championship side Bristol City just two days after the Tykes secured their place in the final but caretaker Paul Heckingbottom has won seven of his 11 games in charge.

It might not grab quite the same headlines as the FA Cup final or indeed the Football League play-off finals, but try telling supporters of both Barnsley and Oxford United that the Johnstone's Paint Trophy final doesn't matter.

Barnsley of League One and Oxford United of League Two have both battled through four rounds to get here, with a very shiny piece of silverware the prize at the end of it all.

Kick-off is less than 30 minutes away. All important team news to come...
