Nope, it comes to nothing, and that's the interval. Chelsea good value for their lead.

Good foraging by Can and he earns a free kick on the edge of the area. One last chance for Liverpool before the break...

  3. YELLOW CARDpublished at 43 mins

    Liverpool 0-1 Chelsea

Emre Can with a cynical tug-back on Eden Hazard and that is a yellow all day, every day.

Hazard is mesmeric tonight. His close control is phenomenal. Firmino goes through the back of him and is lucky not to see yellow. Pedro whacks the free kick wide.

  5. CLOSE!published at 39 mins

    Liverpool 0-1 Chelsea

Big chance for young Bertrand Traore. He's slipped in by a lovely Fabregas pass and bears down on the keeper. He then cuts back inside, taking Mignolet out of the game, but can't curl his finish into the empty net from a tight angle. Probably should have scored.

  6. Postpublished at 36 mins

    Liverpool 0-1 Chelsea

Daniel Sturridge hasn't looked sharp yet tonight. An attempted backheel goes awry when he treads on the ball. D'oh.

  7. Postpublished at 33 mins

    Liverpool 0-1 Chelsea

Incredible from Eden Hazard, His balance was absolutely sublime there as he beat three men with nothing more than a few drops of the shoulder. Liverpool need to respond, and Coutinho shows some urgency when he stings Begovic's gloves.

    Eden Hazard

Tedium very much broken. This is an absolutely superb goal from Eden Hazard. He picks up the ball with his back to goal 30 yards out, turns, glides past three men, and passes the ball nonchalantly into the bottom corner. Brilliant.

Dejan Lovren throws himself headlong to turn Pedro's cross behind. Chelsea can't make the corner count. Tedium setting in here...

  10. Postpublished at 22 mins

    Liverpool 0-0 Chelsea

Neither team afraid to try their luck from distance this evening. This time it's Chelsea's Eden Hazard with a swerving low drive that Simon Mignolet has to be alert to get down to.

  11. Postpublished at 20 mins

    Liverpool 0-0 Chelsea

Roberto Firmino is in! Great channel ball by Sturridge to release the Brazilian, but the angle of the pass forces him wide and by the time he's rounded the keeper, he's run out of room and can only fire into the side netting.

Dejan Lovren is brimming with confidence at the moment. He has a crack from 20 yards out wide on the right - not a bad effort, it flies just over.

Pedro is playing in a mask this evening after suffering a broken nose in a "mystery incident at his home". The mind boggles. Anyway, he does brilliantly to embark on a mazy run at the heart of the Liverpool defence, but his shot is well blocked.

    Liverpool 0-0 Chelsea

It's all gone a bit scrappy. The tireless James Milner slides in and wins the ball for Liverpool in midfield. The Reds having the better of possession so far.

  16. Postpublished at 11 mins

    Liverpool 0-0 Chelsea

Bertrand Traore plays a lovely one-two with Cesar Azpilicueta and bursts down the byeline - but hang on, he's offside. Late call, but the right one.

    Liverpool 0-0 Chelsea

Dejan Lovren up from the back when Liverpool win a corner, but he glances his header wide.

  18. Postpublished at 8 mins

A first sight of goal for Bertrand Traore after being slipped in by Eden Hazard, but Alberto Moreno gets across well and takes all the sting out of the shot.

  19. Postpublished at 7 mins

    Liverpool 0-0 Chelsea

Adam Lallana fires in a fierce daisy-cutter from 25 yards that Begovic can only parry. Philippe Coutinho is wide with the follow-up.

  20. Postpublished at 4 mins

Liverpool win a corner and Roberto Firmino almost comes to grief attempting an overhead kick. Would certainly have tested Begovic if he'd connected...
