A comfortable victory for Real, with all of the hard work done in the first half. Eibar's poor run continues: It's eight matches without victory for them. Real move up to second, but remember that Atletico Madrid kick-off at 17:15 BST away to Espanyol. The leaders Barcelona are at Real Sociedad this evening, at 19:30, and we'll have a live text commentary on that match too.

Thanks for your company. Bye for now.

The first step towards redemption for Danilo? The Real full-back races on to a through pass, takes it nicely on his chest and is only denied as keeper Asier Riesgo advances smartly to gather. There's something that sounds suspiciously like applause from the home fans.

Two minutes of added time to play.

Eibar deserve a goal on their second-half performance. Real minds - players and fans alike - appear to be at least partly on Tuesday's Champions League return against Wolfsburg. That's understandable, but it has made this second half a bit of a non-event.

Real substitute Borja Mayoral takes a tumble under David Junca's challenge as he attempts to reach a deflected through pass. The forward's appeals for a penalty disappear into the air, unheeded.

  4. HITS THE BARpublished at 80 mins

    Real Madrid 4-0 Eibar

If Danilo is going to win back the support of Real's fans, he needs to do better than this. The right-back is caught napping as Borja Baston flicks on an Eibar corner, allowing Gonzalo Escalante to plant a header against the bar from about three yards.

One concern for Zinedine Zidane is that Jese, having just come off, is sitting on the bench with an ice pack on his knee. Zidane will hope that is nothing too serious.

Real Madrid make their final change. Jese, who has played well today, makes way for Borja Mayoral.

There are long shadows across the pitch as the sun begins to set behind the stand.

It's been a quiet second half, but Cristiano Ronaldo finally has a say. The Portugal forward dashes to the six-yard line to meet Jese's low cross from the right, but cannot stretch enough and turns the ball wide of the far post. Ronaldo rolls his eyes and looks skywards, like a 70s sitcom dad whose garden shed has just fallen down.

Eibar make their final change. Keko comes off and Bosnian midfielder Izet Hajrovic, on loan from Werder Bremen, is on.

    Real Madrid 4-0 Eibar

A lucky escape for Real keeper Kiko Casilla here, as he charges out to deal with the through ball and sees his clearance loop up and away off the onrushing Borja Baston.

    Real Madrid 4-0 Eibar

Eibar have been much more disciplined in this second half, which is why the Real Madrid run rate has slowed. Real are still enjoying plenty of the ball, but are struggling to create openings with the ease they did in the first half.

Danilo is being whistled by his own fans every time he touches the ball. He has the air of a struggling stand-up comic in a bear pit.

Another change for Real, as Danilo replaces Dani Carvajal. He enters to boos and whistles from the home fans, who were unimpressed by Danilo's poor display against Wolfsburg on Wednesday. They're an unforgiving lot at the Bernabeu...

In other news, I've just been passed some very tasty biscuits. No advertising, I'm afraid, as this is the BBC, but they're just what I need at this stage of proceedings.

Real Madrid defender Nacho Fernandez has been in the wars today. He got over a first-half knock when he fell awkwardly on his ankle; now he's been stamped on (accidentally, it would seem) by Eibar substitute Borja Baston. Nacho's a tough cookie, though. He's up on his feet and on he goes.

Keko is looking lively for Eibar in this second half. He bursts down the right and cuts back a low ball to the edge of the penalty area, where David Junca charges in to drive wide. Chance, that.

Just to clear up Eibar's half-time substitutions, by the way, Junca and Borja Baston came on for Adrian Gonzalez and Jota. So we've lost the Brentford connection. Sorry about that. I'm sure Jota will be pleased to know that the Bees lead 1-0 at 10-man Ipswich in the Championship, anyway.

Real are still creating plenty of chances of their own, though. Jese is played down the left, and his low cross looks certain to set up Lucas Vazquez in the centre - but Ivan Ramis, who has not had a great afternoon to this point, makes a fine interception for Eibar.

Zinedine Zidane makes a change, giving midfielder Casemiro a rest and sending on Mateo Kovacic.

Another chance for Eibar. Keko cuts back from the byeline, and Borja Baston attempts a little back flick - but just takes the ball away from fellow striker Sergi Enrich as it rolls beyond the far post. This is better from the visitors. It's too late to make a difference, surely, but it's better.

Borja immediately gets involved. The Atletico Madrid loanee quick to react as the ball falls to him 15 yards out, but Kiko Casilla saves well.

Then Cristiano Ronaldo stoops into a free header at the other end, and Asier Riesco dives to his left to push the ball aside.

    Real Madrid 4-0 Eibar

A couple of changes for Eibar at half-time. Borja Baston, their leading scorer, and David Junca, their first-choice left-back, are both on. I don't really understand why Jose Luis Mendilibar didn't start them.

  18. First-half goals galorepublished at 15:59 British Summer Time 9 April 2016

    Real Madrid 4-0 Eibar

By my reckoning, that is the sixth time this season that Real have hit four or more first-half goals; they did it both home and away when they faced Espanyol, and at the Bernabeu against Getafe, Rayo Vallecano and Sporting Gijon - against whom they scored five before the break.

That match against Rayo Vallecano in December was arguably the most extraordinary of Rafa Benitez's short and unhappy seven-month reign as manager. Real won 10-2 that day. What chance a repeat?

Cristiano Ronaldo's straightforward first-half finish means that he has now reached a target of 30 La Liga goals for the sixth successive season - the first player to do that in La Liga history. Not bad for a player who may well be moving on from the Bernabeu at the end of the season, with Paris St-Germain and Manchester United touted as potential destinations.

  20. HALF-TIMEpublished at 15:47 British Summer Time 9 April 2016

I would imagine Eibar will stop defending quite so high up the pitch in the second half.
