A bit of pressure on the Northern Ireland defence as Neil Taylor swings a boot at a Chris Gunter cross on the edge of the area. It's weak and wide and Northern Ireland clear.

    Wales 0-0 Northern Ireland

Wales need to be wary about giving away needless free-kicks. That's happened quite often in this game and Northern Ireland get another one on the left, 30 yards from goal. Oliver Norwood curls it in but Ashley Williams' thumping header clears the danger.

Wales are not getting the space they were given by Russia in their final group game but then the Russians had to go for a win. This is a much more tense, tight affair. Few chances, no real tackles going in.

David Simpson: Wales are feeling like England did the other day. Should win. But underdog status is playing its part.

Nigel Hoskins: Wake up Wales. Nees to get a grip on the game. Look very nervous

It was a good strike by Jamie Ward and a good height for Wales keeper Wayne Hennessey.

  10. GREAT SAVE!published at 22 mins

    Wales 0-0 Northern Ireland

This 4-3-2-1 formation that Northern Ireland have employed is working like a charm so far. Wales' chances have been few and are struggling to assert themselves in midfield.

Meanwhile, Northern Ireland are creating opportunities of their own and they force another good save out of Wayne Hennesey when Jamie Ward has a go from outside the area and Wales keeper tips over. Gareth Bale then sweeps up the corner.

Ramsey is two or three yards offside. Sam Vokes gets above Craig Cathcart and heads it back where it comes from. But Ramsey is in an offside position. Good decision by the linesman.

I'm not sure Aaron Ramsey had to touch that. It was a correct decision by the linesman though.

  15. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 19 mins

    Wales 0-0 Northern Ireland

Big chance for Wales! Sam Vokes' header from a ball from the left looks to be on its way into the corner but Aaron Ramsey nips in to poke the ball over the line. He's offside. Did he really need to make that final touch?

    Wales 0-0 Northern Ireland

A pretty quiet start by Wales and the red wall of Welsh fans are currently being drowned out by chants from the Northern Ireland fans.

There's a chance for Wales to do something now as Stuart Dallas halts the run of Chris Gunter on the right and gives away a free kick. It's sent to the edge of the area by Aaron Ramsey, but Sam Vokes' flicked header goes well wide.

You can see the threat as soon as Wales' Gareth Bale gets the ball down the right-hand side. There were three defenders around him.

Northern Ireland will take confidence from that earlier chance. It was a fantastic strike. But it will also be good for Hennessey, who was at full-stretch to push it around the post.

The ball is worked to Gareth Bale once again and immediately three players are on him. Still, the Real Madrid man manages to whip a low ball into the box. Aaron Ramsey makes the run, the ball is just behind him and he flicks out a foot, but he doesn't make contact and it runs through to Michael McGovern.
