    Wales 0-0 Northern Ireland

Northern Ireland have completed 114 passes today, that's three more than in 90 minutes versus Germany.

They are seeing more of the ball, but can they make it count?

Second half is under way. No changes for either side.

Northern Ireland midfielder Chris Brunt: "The way the half panned out with a couple of chances and a couple of good saves from Wayne Hennessey, I think Northern Ireland will be the happier with that.

"The question is can we keep up the intensity? We are doing very well limiting space for Bale and Ramsey but the game might open up a bit the longer it goes on."

The football has been secondary to a bit of a sing song in the stands with both sets of fans having been belting out their catalogue of chants.

Will Grigg's On Fire has, as expected, featured heavily. He might yet be the man to light up this match.

The standard of football has been terrible. I think Northern Ireland have committed men forward. There's a belief Northern Ireland can get something and that could play into Wales' hands.

Tom Hayes: Drab first half. Not sure what's up with Wales

Hugh in France: What a disappointing half of "football". Ramsey's off the pace and too deep. Wales long balls forward are too easy for NI

All the emphasis was on Wales and the Bale-effect. Northern Ireland have started really well and nullified Bale, Ramsey and Joe Allen's passing. We go into half-time deservedly 0-0. It's up to Wales to come out and counter that.

It's been a nervous affair and there's not been a lot of quality on the pitch. It's like two teams shadow boxing.

A nervous half comes to a close.

    Not a classic.

Fits and starts from Gareth Bale. Wales have been nowhere near the levels we know they can play. Northern Ireland have stifled the threat of Bale and Ramsey. Ramsey has not been given any space. Northern Ireland are stopping Wales and shown they can be a threat from set-pieces.

Stuart Dallas flies in on Gareth Bale, studs showing, and he catches the forward on his foot. Definite yellow card and a potentially bad one for Dallas. If Northern Ireland progress, then he will miss their quarter-final game.

A corner for Northern Ireland, which Oliver Norwood takes. He plays it low towards the near post where Jamie Ward has pulled away from the defence, the forward tries to flick it on but he only finds a Wales defender.

Looking back, he had plenty of space and time. Probably should have gone for the shot.

That was Northern Ireland's third corner of the game. None for Wales yet.

Northern Ireland just need to see a decent final ball coming into the box so someone can get a head on to it.

If there's anything this first half has told us, it's that one goal is going to settle this and you have to say Northern Ireland are looking the most likely to get it at the moment.

Michael O'Neill's side carve out another chance as Aaron Hughes plays a great ball in from the right and Chris Gunter just gets ahead of Stuart Dallas to head away.

With Wales well shackled by Northern Ireland's resolute defending, fans from each side have taken it upon themselves to provide entertainment by rattling through their repertoire of chants.

Having been accused of only having one (in reference to 'Will Grigg's On Fire' one assumes), Northern Ireland have responded with a few cries of 'Stand Up For the Ulster Men' and 'It's Just Like Watching Brazil'.

This has been more modern-day, pragmatic Brazil than the carefree entertainers of bygone eras.
