    Rayo Vallecano 0-0 Real Madrid

Under way in the, OK, a Madrid derby.

  2. No Bundesliga title today?published at 14:54 British Summer Time 23 April 2016

Shinji Kagawa has just given Borussia Dortmund the lead in their game at Stuttgart. If they win (or draw) today, then Bayern will have to wait for the Bundesliga title.

What happened in the reverse fixture this year? One of the busiest shifts of my life, that's what happened.

Rayo Vallecano: Juan Carlos, Tito, Quini, Amaya, Crespo, Trashorras, Jozabed, Pablo Hernandez, Embarba, Bebe, Miku.

    Hertha Berlin 0-0 Bayern Munich

Not too much action in the German capital so far. Douglas Costa had a go from outside the box but Hertha's keeper was able to deal with it.

Borussia Dortmund are still drawing 0-0 in Stuttgart, which would mean Bayern couldn't win the title today anyway.

Bayern Munich can win their fourth consecutive Bundesliga title today.

If they beat Hertha Berlin AND Borussia Dortmund lose at Stuttgart (which is also under way), then the title race is over.

It would mean coach Pep Guardiola, who leaves for Manchester City this summer, would have won the German league in each of his three season in charge.

However, he says he expects Dortmund to win to keep their slim hopes alive.

"Dortmund will win in Stuttgart so we still have to win two games," the Catalan said.

  10. Madrid clubs keep on winningpublished at 14:34 British Summer Time 23 April 2016

While Barcelona were slipping, Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid have been like two steamrollers, squashing everything in sight.

Real Madrid have won eight La Liga games in a row, while Atletico have won eight out of the last night.

Oh, and they've both reached the Champions League semi-finals.

So how does the La Liga title race stand?

Barcelona lead the table on head-to-head record from Atletico Madrid. (Goal difference is not the deciding factor in Spain)

Real Madrid are one point further behind. There are four games to go.

I did some number crunching yesterday and Barca will win the league on head-to-head if they finish joint on points with Atletico, Real or both. If Atletico and Real are joint top, Atletico will be champions.

None of the teams have games you'd expect them to lose left.

Barca's opponents are all bottom half - maybe the home derby with Espanyol on the penultimate day might be their toughest test.

Atletico's biggest test may be at home to sixth-placed Celta Vigo on the final day.

Real Madrid have three away games in their final four - but ninth-placed Valencia at the Bernabeu could be their biggest worry.

  12. Where did it all go wrong?published at 14:31 British Summer Time 23 April 2016

Coming into the start of April, Barcelona were nine points clear at the top of La Liga and unbeaten in 39 games.

But a defeat by Real Madrid in El Clasico sparked a phenomenal collapse.

They lost their next two La Liga games, and got dumped out of the Champions League by Atletico Madrid.

However an 8-0 win over Deportivo on Wednesday will have stopped the rot. Or so they hope anyway.

  13. Most exciting title race ever?published at 14:30

    Spanish La Liga

    Right, you're among friends here.

    No judging.

So you can just tell us the truth.

    That's fine.

I mean we were all thinking it.

    Come on, be honest now.

    That's right.

Last month, you thought Barcelona had already wrapped up La Liga, didn't you?

    So did I.

But nobody - not even Diego Simeone or Zinedine Zidane - could have dreamed of that collapse.

And here we are - four games to go and we have possibly the best major title race in the world on our hands.
