Fernando Torres won't be inviting the ref over for dinner anytime soon. He's furious. Moments after being denied a corner he's booked despite barely touching a defender who just slipped over.

  2. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 57 mins

    Atletico Madrid 0-0 Malaga

Fernando Torres has a shot deflected over. Atletico Madrid are ready to take the corner but the referee says it's a goal-kick. He's underestimated Torres' effort there. It got a huge deflection off Ricardo Horta.

Atletico make a change now as Yannick Carrasco - who hurt himself late in the first half - comes off for Angel Correa.

  3. YELLOW CARDpublished at 55 mins

    Atletico Madrid 0-0 Malaga

It all kicks off between both sets of players after Jose Gimenez crunches Ignacio Camacho in a high sliding tackle.

It was dangerous by both sets of players but Camacho's socks have been slashed by Gimenez's studs. There's some pushing and shoving and Gimenez gets booked.

Ricardo Horta fires the free-kick over for Malaga.

It's mostly Atletico Madrid so far in the second half, Saul volleying a shot wide from close range and then Fernando Torres appealing for a penalty after going down under pressure in the box.

It now appears that Diego Simeone was actually sent off for an act of pure gamesmanship. Late in the first half Malaga were breaking and a ball was thrown onto the pitch, which meant the referee had to call back play. According to reports, it was Simeone who threw the ball on!

That must have been what the chat between Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone and the referee at half-time was about.

The second half is under way. A big 45 minutes for Atletico Madrid's title hopes. Realistically they need to win all their last four games.

This might be Atletico's best chance of the game but Yannick Carrasco appears to have injured himself in the process. He goes on a run from deep and fires in a shot from 25 yards which Guillermo Ochoa keeps out with a diving save.

However Ignacio Camacho caught him with a tackle as he was shooting and the Belgian is down.

Malaga are playing a high defensive line and almost get caught out. Atletico forward Yannick Carrasco is on the halfway line and plays in Fernando Torres, who was just caught offside.

Had he timed his run better he'd have been in on goal.

Atletico midfielder Koke plays a ball into the box and in-form Fernando Torres stretches out but can't get a touch.

    Atletico Madrid 0-0 Malaga

There's not much happening in this game at the moment, although as I write that Atletico win a corner - which comes to nothing.

Malaga are safely mid-table so don't have much to play for.

Malaga defender Welington - who was off receiving injury treatment a minute ago - is caught out by Fernando Torres and has to bring him town. He's also booked.

Atletico Madrid's Antoine Griezmann has the chance to find strike partner Fernando Torres in the box but his pass is weak and intercepted.

This game isn't a classic, but then again Atletico games rarely are. And they inevitably win.
