  1. 'We want Wayne'published at 20:54 British Summer Time 17 May 2016

The England team selector launched on Monday - and there was strong support for Wayne Rooney's inclusion from the first 500,000 picking their team to start against Russia at Euro 2016.

However, just as Alan Shearer suggested that Rooney is no longer England's first-choice striker, so your selections echoed that view.

In fact, although more than 250,000 had Rooney in their team, just 17% had him in an out-and-out forward role.

The rest had him in midfield - although of course that position includes the more advanced roles at the tip of a diamond or in the middle of a three behind a lone striker.

  2. Room for Rashford?published at 20:52 British Summer Time 17 May 2016

While Wayne Rooney was a certainty to be included in Roy Hodgson's England squad, there was a lot more discussion around the inclusion of 18-year-old striker Marcus Rashford.

He has not made an England appearance and only made his United first-team debut in a Europa League match in February.

Alan Shearer reckons that his seven goals for United justify his inclusion in the initial 26-man squad.

However, if your team selections so far mirror Roy Hodgson's thinking then a place in the first team against Russia at Euro 2016 is some way off.

Rashford was chosen by less than 40,000, leaving him third from bottom in terms of the 26 in the squad.

That will undoubtedly having something to do with the fact that Harry Kane (87%) and Jamie Vardy (71%) were included in the majority of selections.

Adam in Edinburgh: Lingard is a truly awful United player. Offers nothing. He's definitely in the Cleverley, Anderson and Eagles category of young and 'talented' but useless when it comes to the crunch.

"Wayne Rooney is a suitable opening goalscorer at Old Trafford for the Manchester United captain has more reason than most to want to avoid defeat tonight.

"His testimonial, announced for 3 August and due to be against former club Everton, still has not been signed off.

"It was impossible to complete negotiations until Rooney knew when United would be starting their season.

"If the score remains as it is, they will be in the Europa League group stage, thus avoiding a clash of dates with the third qualifying round, which United need a point to avoid."

Manchester United lead at half-time. It's not been a classic, but they've been the better team.

It's a great passing move from Manchester United and they lead. Juan Mata plays a quick ball to Anthony Martial, who crosses immediately and Marcus Rashford steps over it so it can land to Wayne Rooney to steer home.

The game suddenly bursts into life a bit and Marc Pugh has Bournemouth's first real chance but his shot is blocked. United break and Marcus Rashford tries a bit of skill to get past a defender, but loses possession. Finally the Old Trafford crowd are making a bit of noise.

Jake Saunders: This game is Man United's season in a nutshell; absolutely nobody cares.

Yanis Gbl: Why didn't Van Gaal just rotate the squad and play the likes of Memphis, Pereira etc? We have nothing to play for anyway.

Snr Neave: Wow this is terrible! It's like a very early pre-season game! Do the players actually care? Yawnfest

Pre-season? This is one of the first ever post-season Premier League games.

As we say all that, Manchester United have the first shot on target of the game. Wayne Rooney plays in a free-kick which Michael Carrick tries to get a foot onto 12 yards out. However he can't get a touch and it's straight at Adam Federici. A real waste.

"A big grey cloud is hanging over Old Trafford.

"It could be a metaphor for Louis van Gaal's managerial future at Manchester United.

"For months, speculation has been rife Jose Mourinho is going to take his job.

    "Mourinho thinks he is coming.

"The time is approaching for executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward to decide whether the Special One will get a job many felt he should have been offered when Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013."

Those Manchester United and Bournemouth fans who have stayed at home to watch the soaps are not missing much. So far the teams have only mustered two shots - one for each side - in the opening half hour.

United striker Anthony Martial (9) blazed one over, while Bournemouth defender Steve Cook had an effort blocked.

Bournemouth keeper Adam Federici collects a simple cross into the box. The fact that I've told you that tells its own story.
