That's it for us for another Scottish football season. Kilmarnock stay in the Premiership, Falkirk remain in the Championship, with Dundee United going down to join them, while Hibs will also be there but as Scottish Cup winners. Celtic are champions and will renew their city rivalry next season with promoted Rangers.

Josh Magennis was the man of the match, the Northern Ireland striker who began his career as a goalkeeper and then played at full-back for Aberdeen making the difference after returning from injury.

The 25-year-old will hope his performance was enough to clinch his place in Michael O'Neill's squad for the Euro 2016 finals.

For Falkirk, they are left to lick their wounds and go again in the Championship after a fine season when they finished above Hibs as runners-up and then beat the Scottish Cup winners in their play-off semi-final.

"When the goals were going in, it was a replication of what we did when we stayed up with Birmingham City and I never thought that would be repeated.

"I knew the implications of going down.

"We needed a quick start and to get the big crowd onside.

"We couldn't have dreamed of a better start and that settled us a bit, but you never know with Falkirk and it's credit to them that they never threw the towel in.

"This club has been loitering about his position for four or five years and this warning has to be heeded."

"When you are two down after seven minutes, the occasion certainly got to us. 

"There are a lot of players in tears in there feeling like they have let the fans down.  

"But they have been magnificent all season and it is not a day to criticise the players. 

"We were involved in a cup final at the end of last season and a play-off at the end of this one. 

"We need to learn when we are in a position like that how to get it over the line. 

"We have to look at it in the close season and see if we can add more quality and maybe more physicality if you look at us compared to Kilmarnock."

"The most important thing was to win and stay in the league. 

"We shouldn't be in this position to start with, but for me breaking into the team it has been brilliant this season. 

"We need to work hard in pre-season and come out flying as we can't be this position next season."

"To do it on the last day of the season was not what we wanted.

"But sometimes that's what it takes.

"I felt okay for the first leg, but it wasn't worth the risk of further injury and the manager and I decided to miss that and hopefully make an impact in the first 70 minutes for this one.

"First and foremost, my club is Kilmarnock.

"I can't turn my back on my club even with the prospect of playing for Northern Ireland in the Euros - if selected, I must stress that." 

"From a personal view, it is one of the best seasons I've had and yet we've been involved in a relegation battle.

"We've survived and that's the main thing.

"The fans have turned out today and were definitely our 12th man.

"Hopefully we can entice a few of them back again next season."

The home players are back on the pitch to celebrate with their fans and one of the them has just pulled the head off the Kilmarnock squirrel!

That's their furry mascot by the way, so no real animals were harmed.

It is the second season in a row that the Premiership side have had a healthy victory over the team coming through the play-off series in the Championship. Remember, Rangers were hammered 6-1 by Motherwell on aggregate.

"The amount of chances we had on Thursday and we didn't take them.

"We had the same amount of chances today and we took them.

"The plan was to get in Falkirk's faces and we took them by surprise.

"It is great to be part of this, but hopefully never again and we are delighted to stay in this division."

There were fears at the final whistle there of a repeat of yesterday's events at Hampden as about 100 fans broke on to the Rugby Park pitch.

However, the police quickly formed a cordon across the pitch and have cleared the park again.

Kilmarnock extend their 23-year stay in Scotland's top flight with an emphatic victory. For Falkirk, their six-year absence continues.
