Now Fola have a corner and it's a much better delivery, requiring a good defensive header from under pressure Kenny McLean. Worrying times for the Dons...

Aberdeen win their first corner of the night as Jonny Hayes pings an early cross in the direction of Jayden Stockley and it takes a good block to prevent the striker getting in a near post shot.

    Hearts v Infonet (20:00)

    Richard Wilson
    BBC Scotland at Tynecastle

"This game is the reward for a solid season of progress for Hearts, and there is a sense of familiarity to their starting line-up. Only two new signings start the game - in Conor Sammon and Faycal Rherra - although Jack Hamilton is a young and relatively inexperienced goalkeeper.

"Hearts manager Robbie Neilson believes that a high tempo and aggressive approach will overwhelm the Estonian side, but the question is whether the players have the match sharpness and stamina, after just a four-week break, to impose themselves that way for 90 minutes. The opportunity is there to start the campaign boldly and positively, but it will be a test of nerve as well as conditioning."

    Aberdeen v Fola Esch (19:45) & Hearts v Infonet (20:00)

The first and second round draws were done at the same time, so we know who lies in wait for the winners.

Should Hearts progress, they will be up against Birkirkara of Malta or NK Siroki Brijeg, a team they beat in 2006. The first leg has finished 1-1 in Bosnia.

Confident Aberdeen fans will be looking up flights to Latvia and ferries to the Faroe Islands for either FK Ventspils or Vikingur. The Latvian side take a 2-0 lead into the second leg.

Scottish Cup winners Hibernian enter in the next round and they'll be up against Valur of Iceland or Denmark's Brondby. The first leg doesn't kick-off until 22:00 tonight.

  7. Foal Esch 'deserved a goal'published at 19:54 British Summer Time 30 June 2016

    Aberdeen 0-0 Fola Esch

Former Aberdeen captain and manager Willie Miller: "That was wonderful football. If it had ended up in the back of the net, it would have been as good a goal as you had ever seen at Pittodrie. He was so unlucky to see it come back off the post. It deserved a goal."

"What a let-off for Aberdeen. A superb one-two between Stefano Bensi and Mehdi Kirch released Bensi into the box. His first time curling low effort beat Joe Lewis but struck the base of the far post. Phew! Perhaps not the straight-forward evening many expected."

  9. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 5 mins

Near silence at Pittodrie as the team from Luxembourg spring a lovely counter-attack and Stefano Bensi thumps the post with a great curling strike.

  10. KICK-OFFpublished at 19:47 British Summer Time 30 June 2016

    Aberdeen 0-0 Fola Esch

We're off at Pittodrie and the Dons are on the front foot straight away... A nice positive start from the hosts.

    Aberdeen v Fola Esch (19:45) & Hearts v Infonet (20:00)

Hearts were last in Europe three years ago, going straight into the play-off round in this competition and straight out again after a 2-1 aggregate defeat against Liverpool.

Aberdeen have lost in the third round of qualifying in the past two seasons. The Dons were toppled by big-spending Kairat Almaty last time and Real Sociedad the year before.

With the play-off stage coming after the third round, that standard of opposition shows just how hard it is for Scottish teams to reach the group stage.

  12. Plain sailing for Dons?published at 19:43 British Summer Time 30 June 2016

    Aberdeen v Fola Esch (19:45)

    Martin Dowden
    BBC Sport Scotland at Pittodrie

"Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes is taking Fola Esch seriously but I don't think there are too many home fans in this noisy crowd who think they won't progress. A comfortable win would do nicely make next week's trip comfortable."

  13. Who are you?published at 19:40 British Summer Time 30 June 2016

    Aberdeen v Fola Esch (19:45) & Hearts v Infonet (20:00)

    So, who are tonight's opposition?

Fola Esch travel to Pittodrie from Luxembourg and have never won a European tie in 10 attempts.

Infonet are from the Estonian capital of Tallinn. Only formed in 2002, they made the headlines over here last year when they equalled Arbroath's long-standing world record 36-0 victory in a cup match.

They should be in good shape since they are 17 matches into the Meistriliga season and are just one point off top spot.

Fola Esch finished their league campaign in May and finished runners-up, just like the Dons.

  14. Hearts head coach Robbie Neilsonpublished at 19:39 British Summer Time 30 June 2016

    Talking to BBC Radio Scotland

"The players are ready and this is a great game for us to come back. It's difficult against a team midway through their season but we are in good shape.

"They're at a good standard with current and former internationals and an average age of 29/30.

"We're looking to start well and take a good lead with us to Estonia next week."

  16. Aberdeen manager Derek McInnespublished at 19:32 British Summer Time 30 June 2016

    Talking to BBC Radio Scotland

"In my time here Niall (McGinn) has only been on the bench twice, and even in those games he’s come on at half-time. He’s an important player for me and Northern Ireland going out of Euro 2016 has allowed me to bring him back.

"We’re conscious of the fact he’s not had a break but his confidence is good, he has match sharpness, so today should be a good game for him and we’ll address the best time to rest him as we go along.

"I think they (Fola Esch) will be better than the Latvians we faced (Daugava Riga in 2014) and closer to the Macedonians (Shkendija in 2015) from the early rounds in previous years. If we can play towards our levels it will be difficult for them.

"Adam Rooney is not quite there yet. He's only had three loads of minutes and he's been out for four or five months with that thigh injury. Jayden Stockley has real presence. He's aggressive and he's a good threat in the opposition box."

  17. Two debutants for Heartspublished at 19:27 British Summer Time 30 June 2016

    Hearts v Infonet (20:00)

Perry Kitchen is another player not getting much of a break since the Hearts and USA midfielder was involved in the Copa America. He only arrived back in Edinburgh on Tuesday but is on the bench tonight.

Two summer signings, striker Conor Sammon and left-back Faycal Rherras, are both handed their competitive debuts from the start, but another - Robbie Muirhead - is not involved.

Sam Nicholson and Jamie Walker both return to the side on the flanks, while young keeper Jack Hamilton gets the chance to stake his claim for the position for the long term after the departure of Neil Alexander.

Hearts team: Hamilton, Paterson, Souttar, Ozturk, Rherras; Nicholson, Buaben, Djoum, Walker, Sammon, Juanma.

Subs: Gallacher, Rossi, L Smith, Kitchen, King, Zanatta, Todorov.

  18. No rest for Niall McGinnpublished at 19:24 British Summer Time 30 June 2016

    Aberdeen v Fola Esch (19:45)

Northern Ireland forward Niall McGinn is only just back from Euro 2016 and he's thrust into the Aberdeen team.

Dons fans will get a first look at goalkeeper Joe Lewis and striker Jayden Stockley, while last season's top-scorer Adam Rooney is on the bench.

Neil Alexander and latest signing Anthony O'Connor are among the replacements.

Aberdeen team: Lewis, Logan, Considine, Taylor, Shinnie, Flood, Jack, McGinn, McLean, Hayes, Stockley.

Subs: Rooney, Smith, Alexander, Reynolds, O'Connor, Pawlett, Wright.
