  1. CLOSE!published at 49 mins

    Fola Esch 0-1 Aberdeen

Inauspicious start to the second half by the Dons. A mix-up between Ash Taylor and new arrival Mark Reynolds allows Stefano Bensi time to send a curling effort towards the top corner that Joe Lewis does well to tip round the post.  From the resultant corner, Tom Laterza's effort is straight at the keeper, mercifully for Aberdeen fans.

  2. Double change for Donspublished at 46 mins

    Fola Esch 0-0 Aberdeen

Manager Derek McInnes has taken decisive action at the interval.  Peter Pawlett and debutant Anthony O'Connor have got the hook, with defender Mark Reynolds and midfielder Willo Flood entering the fray.  Andrew Considine has moved to left-back, with Graeme Shinnie moving forward into midfield. Thoughts?

  3. Second half about to startpublished at 18:31 British Summer Time 7 July 2016

Fola Esch 1-0 Aberdeen (agg 2-3)

Players back out at the sun-kissed Stade Jose Barthel.  Can the Dons get their act together and ease the nerves of their band of travelling fans?

  4. Dons 'will be getting an earful'published at 18:23

    HT: Fola Esch 1-0 Aberdeen

Former Aberdeen goalkeeper Jamie Langfield on Radio Scotland:

"Aberdeen didn't seem to get their passing going like they normally do but you have to give Fola credit.  Over the piece they have had the better chances and getting the goal right on half-time has certainly put a spanner in the works.  I have been in a dressing room with Derek [McInnes] and they will certainly be getting an earful right now."

  5. HALF-TIME - Fola Esch 1-0 Aberdeenpublished at 18:22 British Summer Time 7 July 2016

Well that's put the cat among the pigeons.  The Dons have looked like a team still in pre-season mode, which of course they are in reality, in that first half. They seemed content to protect their two-goal cushion, but Hadji's strike means that a second goal for the hosts would put them ahead on the away goals rule. Time for a stern talking-to from Derek McInnes.

  6. goal

GOAL - Fola Esch 1-0 Aberdeen (agg 2-3)published at 44 mins

Samir Hadji has looked the most likely player on either side to find a breakthrough, and sure enough, he slots the opener.  A simple through ball sees him streak away from the Dons defence, and he plants an angled drive past Joe Lewis.

  7. McInnes 'furious' with Donspublished at 18:10

    Fola Esch 0-0 Aberdeen

    Stuart Duff
    Former Aberdeen defender

"Derek McInnes is furious with his back four and midfield, he's urging them to get further up the field. They're allowing Fola to pass the ball. When they press they do end up winning the ball the majority of the time. I would like to see a bit more from Jonny Hayes.  On his day he's electric but he's barely had any touches so far."

  8. CLOSE!published at 35 mins

    Fola Esch 0-0 Aberdeen

Aberdeen's defence is hesistant at best as Fola's Stefano Bensi escapes a couple of flimsy challenges before unleashing a volley that skims over the bar.

  9. Fola chances keep comingpublished at 32 mins

    Fola Esch 0-0 Aberdeen

Another corner from Fola sees dangerman Samir Hadji leap highest but his powerful header is just over.  Dons still struggling to get a grip of this game.

  10. PENALTY?published at 30 mins

    Fola Esch 0-0 Aberdeen

Shay Logan goes down in the box on another foray forward for the Dons, and several Aberdeen players appeal for a penalty.  But referee Ola Hobber Nilsen is having none of it, and waves them away.

  11. Fola probing for openerpublished at 26 mins

    Fola Esch 0-0 Aberdeen

Aberdeen, with a two-goal advantage, are happy to let Fola see plenty of the ball. Veldin Muharemovic has a pop at goal for the hosts, but it doesn't trouble Dons keeper Joe Lewis, who watches it sail over his bar.

  12. Chances for Aberdeenpublished at 20 mins

    Fola Esch 0-0 Aberdeen

Better from the Dons.  Some neat build-up in midfield sees Kenny McLean get himself in a shooting position, but the Scotland midfielder's effort is wide. Moments later Peter Pawlett crosses from the left and Jayden Stockley's side-footed effort is saved at point-blank range by Fola keeper Thomas Hym.

  13. CLOSE!published at 17 mins:

    Fola Esch 0-0 Aberdeen

Aberdeen's first foray forward sees Shay Logan advance deep into Fola territory but the right-back, who scored the opening girl in the first leg, drags his effort across goal and narrowly wide of the left-hand post.

  14. Chance for Folapublished at 12 mins:

    Fola Esch 0-0 Aberdeen

The Dons defence are in no rush to close down Fola's Mehdi Kirch, who drives on to the edge of the Aberdeen area, only to slice his left-footed effort 10 yards wide of the post.

  15. ouch!

    Ouch!published at 10 mins:

    Fola Esch 0-0 Aberdeen

Jayden Stockley takes a whack from behind in a high challenge from Fola's Billy Bernard, but the Aberdeen striker picks himself up after a quick breather.

  16. Fola on front footpublished at 7 mins

    Fola Esch 0-0 Aberdeen

Fola taking the direct approach early on, trying to test the Dons' back four, but the visitors are dealing with it fairly comfortably. Not much from Aberdeen in attack as yet. It's a strange atmosphere, with maybe a 1,000 fans in all in attendance. No danger of the players not being able to hear themselves here.

  17. CLOSE!published at 2 mins:

    Fola Esch 0-0 Aberdeen

Early let-off for Dons keeper Joe Lewis, who has to scramble back after a speculative effort from Fola's Samir Hadji near the halfway line, which only goes over his crossbar by a whisker.

Fola Esch v Aberdeen (17:30 KO)

Aberdeen are in Luxembourg's national stadium tonight, the Stade Josy Barthel. Josy, incidentally, won a surprise gold medal in the men's 1500m at the 1952 Olympics in Helsinki, and remains the only Luxembourger to have won an Olympic gold medal. Anyway, it holds just under 9,000 fans. Sunshine and blue skies have just accompanied the players out onto the pitch, but here's a picture of the stadium to give you an idea anyway.

Fola Esch v Aberdeen (17:30 KO)

Aberdeen have won both of their Europa League away ties under manager Derek McInnes when they have been away for the second leg.

In the 2014/15 season, they beat Daugava Riga 3-0 after a 5-0 first leg win, and followed that with a 2-1 win over Dutch Eredivisie side Groningen after drawing 0-0 at home.

Out of the six away ties they have played in Europe under McInnes, they have lost only twice - to Spanish La Liga side Real Socieded, and last season to Kairat Almaty of Kazakhstan.

We gather about 400-500 have made the journey. Any memories of previous trips to one of the three official capitals of the European Union? Morrissey sang about "writing frightening verse...to a buck-tooth girl in Luxembourg" but no need to scare anyone with your offerings.
