Everton 1-0 Tottenham
Kevin Kilbane
Former Hull City, Everton and Sunderland winger on BBC Radio 5 live
“It was a great ball played into a really dangerous area from Barkley and the movement from Funes-Mori deceived Lloris, allowing the delivery to go straight in.”
Ross Barkley
Boom shake the room!
We've seen this time and time again. Ross Barkley teases a free-kick into the area expecting to find a head of a team-mate and instead it sneaks in past the reach of Hugo Lloris.
You'll see what I mean when you watch Match of the Day later.
What a start for Koeman eh?
Everton 0-0 Tottenham
It'll be interesting to see how Everton's Gerard Deulofeu does as a striker with Romelu Lukaku not playing. He scored three goals in pre-season, so he's in good form.
Anyway, Everton have a free-kick in what is known as a "dangerous position".
Everton 0-0 Tottenham
We have lift off. Toffees are in blue and Tottenham are in white.
Koeman is wearing a suit and Pochettino is wearing a v-neck sweater and shirt.

Everton's miserable home form last season was arguably the most alarming aspect of their hugely disappointing campaign.
Goodison Park was immersed in bewilderment and no little angst from loyal supporters, who were forced to witness eight visiting sides leaving victorious.
By contrast, only Leicester bettered Spurs' achievements on their travels and, but for an inexplicable capitulation on the final day at Newcastle, no side would have matched their imperious defensive record on the road.
It all points to a tricky opening duel for the hosts - one from which new boss Ronald Koeman will be delighted to emerge unscathed, having admitted that his squad rebuilding remains far from complete, and that those he can deploy are still lacking full match fitness.

New Everton signing Ashley Williams, having done a quick signing session, walks out on to the pitch and is introduced to the home fans. He then retreats back down the tunnel because he's not playing today.
The sprinklers continue to sprinkle - we are minutes away from kick off.

Tough call this one as Mauricio Pochettino's side were excellent last season and were right in the title shake-up for so long.
In reality, you could throw a blanket over the likes of Chelsea, Spurs, Liverpool and Arsenal in the battle for top-four places. But when you think about Spurs, will a hangover from England's Euro 2016 fiasco in France effect the likes of Harry Kane, Eric Dier and Dele Alli?
Midfielder Victor Wanyama will provide power and energy after his arrival from Southampton while striker Vincent Janssen, the powerful 22-year-old bought from AZ Alkmaar for £17m, will give Kane support.
At this stage fifth, but they will be a danger to everyone they play.

Everton's new ambition under major shareholder Farhad Moshiri was proved when manager Ronald Koeman was lured away from Southampton after taking them into the Europa League last season. And Leicester's influential Steve Walsh was taken from the champions and appointed director of football.
It is yet to materialise on the pitch as the collection of expected big signings have yet to arrive. On this basis Everton will just make it into the top 10.
Koeman, however, is a shrewd and ruthless operator. It should also be remembered he inherited a debacle from his predecessor Roberto Martinez, with a squad that had clearly lost faith in its manager and almost unprecedented levels of discontent among supporters.
John Stones left for Manchester City for £47.5m, making him the world's second most expensive defender, while Wales captain Ashley Williams has arrived from Swansea for a reported £12m. But keeping Romelu Lukaku is essential. Who could Koeman buy to replace a virtual guarantee of 20 goals a season?

Heard the one about Tottenham's Dele Alli offering to sign shirts with the name Alli on the back as compensation for him choosing to have Dele on the back of his shirt?
No.

How disappointed Ronald? We thought he was injured. He is injured, right? Is that what you meant?
Ronald? Ronald? Ronald?

Everton's new defensive signing Ashley Williams will not feature having started pre-season late. Ramiro Funes Mori and Phil Jagielka are the centre-back pairing.
Idrissa Gueye, who signed from Aston Villa, will take his place in midfield and Maarten Stekelenburg is in goal for the Toffees.
Full-back Seamus Coleman and striker Romelu Lukaku - who is the subject of transfer speculation - are out with respective ankle and heel injuries.
Tottenham's new signing Victor Wanyama starts in midfield with another recent recruit, forward Vincent Janssen, on the bench.

Everton v Tottenham (15:00 BST)
Hello again Premier League football.
We open up at Goodison Park with two ex-Southampton managers at teams with top-four aspirations.
Everton, under the stewardship of new boss Ronald Koeman, are obviously longer odds to nab a Champions League spot and will have to improve upon last season's rather poor home form.
It perhaps doesn't bode well for an opening day home win when the Dutch manager says his players are "physically at 70%". Hmm.
As for "the Poch". What a 2015-16 season his side had... up until that final game against Newcastle... and losing second spot to Arsenal... er... but apart from that...
Neither team has spent vast sums in the market. Today's match might be a good indicator with regards to what they might need before TDD.
