So it is three more points for Ronald Koeman's Everton side, who remain unbeaten in competitive games since the Dutchman took over.

Gareth Barry is booked and Yannick Bolasie comes off with 18-year-old midfielder Tom Davies coming on. Can Stoke get a dramatic equaliser?

Arouna Kone misses a chance for a second Everton goal. He sprinted down the right wing and cut in on to his left foot, but his shot went harmlessly over the top.

Everton's Ross Barkley goes off to a richly-deserved warm reception, with Ramiro Funes Mori coming on to tighten things up.

So close to a second for the hosts. Yannick Bolasie, looking for his first Everton goal, is played in by Gareth Barry but curls a shot from the edge of the penalty area just wide.

That would've wrapped up the game, but Stoke still have hope.

The England manager may have left, but Ross Barkley has just come close to extending his side's lead. He breaks through the defence but is denied by Shay Given, who came off his line quickly to stop the shot.

Within seconds, Stoke have a great chance. Marko Arnautovic's pull-back is only inches ahead of substitute Jon Walters, who would've had a tap-in if he could have reached the pass.

Sam Allardyce has seen enough. The England boss is leaving, but will have been impressed by the performances of Stoke's Ryan Shawcross and Everton midfielder Ross Barkley.

Leighton Baines and Phil Jagielka have not done much wrong, and Allardyce will have liked the look of 19-year-old defender Mason Holgate. Definitely one for the future.

The hugely-impressive Kevin Mirallas has gone off to a standing ovation from the home fans.

Arouna Kona, who scored twice against Yeovil in the EFL Cup in midweek, comes on as Everton look to kill this game off.

Mark Hughes has had enough. Jon Walters comes on with Peter Crouch the man who, grudgingly, comes off.

Crouch cleared an Ashley Williams header off the line, but did not too much up front for Stoke.

A good game this one now. At one end Ross Barkley's effort is parried by Shay Given, before Stoke sprint down the other end, only to be let down by the final ball into the box.

Shay Given scored an own goal against Everton while playing for Newcastle in October 2007. Newcastle won the game 3-2.

At the moment, the goalkeeper is the very unfortunate match winner.

Stoke, who have offered so little going forward today, are nearly instantly level from nowhere.

Marko Arnautovic manages to wriggle free in the penalty area and shoot at goal, but the ball ricochets up off the legs of Maarten Stekelenburg on to the crossbar and away.
