A big call Andy - possibly a fair one though. I've never seen Andy White in the six-yard box. But I'm backing him.

Diego Costa may have duffed that sitter but he's been back to his waspish best in this first half. A brilliant number nine at his best isn't he?

Andy White: With two arthritic knees I still think I could have done a better job than Costa. Miss of the season right there.

  3. SITTER!published at 43 mins

Oh how has he missed that?! Diego Costa is three yards out, John Terry's flick on at his feet, but he screws it wide! It looked harder to miss.

    A massive let-off for Swansea.

Neil Taylor is fuming as he is substituted after just 41 minutes of his first Premier League start this season. The Wales left-back had not done much wrong but he has been sacrificed for winger Modou Barrow as head coach Francesco Guidolin rips up his original plan of a tight 5-4-1 formation and starts again.

Modou Barrow, who has come on for Neil Taylor, will go out on to the right and Swansea will go to a 4-4-2.

The home crowd are are getting behind their team again just from that shot by Gylfi Sigurdsson.

Some admin to catch up with. Diego Costa is booked for a late lunge on Federico Fernandez at the advent of that Gyfli Sigurdsson chance. It's the sort of challenge you get booked for on Fifa. A slide into the man as he clears it away.

Then Fernandez is booked moments later for nobbling Costa. WATCH THIS SPACE.

  8. CLOSE!published at 40 mins

    Swansea 0-1 Chelsea

That's Swansea's best moment. Gylfi Sigurdsson strides on to the ball on the edge of the area and whips a fine curling shot just wide of the far corner! Not many players in the league better at 20-yard shots than Gylfi.

Chelsea have been largely functional so far - but that was a moment of fluency. Beautiful play, in fact, as the men in black knit together a flowing move of one-touch stuff, all triangles down the right and Eden Hazard is one strong touch away from breaking into the penalty area.

Seconds later they do it again and Willian is this time close to making the breakthrough.

Chelsea need to kill teams off. With Luiz on the bench they need to score goals to cover the mistake he inevitably will make

Fernando Llorente has been more lighthouse than striker for Swansea so far, he's barely been in the same postcode as the ball, but he battles hard with a bouncing ball and wins a corner. This Chelsea team can defend when they have to though, John Terry heads two crosses away and then Thibaut Courtois comes out and pouches an inswinging cross.

In Women’s Super League One, leaders Manchester City were 1-0 winners at Arsenal, while second-placed Chelsea beat Reading 3-0.

City are now seven points clear of Chelsea, who have three games left to play.

It means City will win their maiden WSL1 title if they avoid defeat when the two sides meet on September 25.

  15. A £30m bargain?published at 30 mins

    Swansea 0-1 Chelsea

N'Golo Kante at £30m may even qualify as a bargain in this madness of a transfer market. A brilliant player - at what he does. That France team who played in the Euros must be close to the most expensive ever assembled by now. Moussa Sissoko cost £30m.

Nobody likes a clever dick - but I'm not sure you'd get too much argument right now.

Kante for £30m or Pogba at 3 times the price? I think we (Chelsea) can feel pretty happy with that comparison right now!

Chelsea have got their mojo back. You don't become a bad team or a bad player overnight. There is still a lot of quality in this Chelsea side.

Only five players have reached 35 goals in the Premier League in fewer appearances than Diego Costa (58 apps) - Andy Cole (41), Alan Shearer (42), Fernando Torres (52), Kevin Phillips (52) & Ruud van Nistelrooy (55).

When Chelsea start from goal kicks it's N'Golo Kante who drops into the deepest position as the centre-backs split and the full-backs bomb on. Very much like Claude Makelele used to do.
