  • Bournemouth fourth-bottom in table

    Bournemouth 0-0 Everton

Bournemouth defender Adam Smith needs treatment after Everton midfielder Kevin Mirallas treads on the back of his ankle.

Mirallas was looking in a different direction but Smith is not happy with the Belgian.

  2. CLOSE!published at 19 mins

    Bournemouth 0-0 Everton

Corner to Bournemouth, won by Jordon Ibe. It's half cleared but comes back and Harry Arter has a sight of goal. His left-foot drive looks like it glances off the post - it goes behind for a goal kick.

Never mind last season's 3-3 - it could almost be 3-3 already.

  3. Ibe runs the gauntletpublished at 16 mins

Bournemouth's record signing Jordon Ibe has usually been deployed on the right wing this season, but he begins today wide on the left - which means every time the ex-Liverpool man runs down that wing in the first half, it'll be directly in front of the sizeable Everton contingent in the East Stand. They wasted no opportunity in booing his first touches - given his association with that team from the other side of Stanley Park.

    Bournemouth 0-0 Everton

Everton suddenly looking shaky and captain Phil Jagielka and right-back Coleman exchange words. Not in a ranty, angry way but there are gaps to fill at the back for the away team.

  5. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 12 mins

    Bournemouth 0-0 Everton

What a start! Now it's Bournemouth's turn to go close and Jack Wilshere almost has his first Bournemouth goal - his shot deflects off Seamus Coleman, onto the bar and away.

  6. GREAT SAVE!published at 10 mins

    Bournemouth 0-0 Everton

So, so close for Everton. Ross Barkley swings in a free-kick from the left and Romelu Lukaku's header is brilliantly saved by Artur Boruc at full stretch.

The Belgian should have scored but that was a tremendous stop.

Callum Wilson threatens again for Bournemouth, cutting inside Phil Jagielka but keeper Maarten Stekelenburg is able to dive on the ball.

Ronald Koeman has added an air of calm. He's also simplified things at the back and sorted that out. Ashley Williams is a great signing with all his experience. That was Roberto Martinez's major problem - at the back. You sort the defence out and all of a sudden the team start getting results.

  9. Postpublished at 6 mins

    Bournemouth 0-0 Everton

Everton are passing it about nicely after that early scare. They've retained the easy-on-the-eye style seen under Roberto Martinez but now look much more secure at the back.

  10. 'Everton look like a club on the march'published at 15:03

    Bournemouth 0-0 Everton

    Garth Crooks
Former Spurs striker on Final Score

Ronald Koeman has restored confidence and belief in his Everton squad. On the touchline he looks like a man with a real presence.

Everton look like a club on the march, second in the table and scoring goals. Lukaku is hitting back of the net and Bolasie has been a revelation.

  11. Postpublished at 2 mins

    Bournemouth 0-0 Everton

Everton's turn now: Idrissa Gueye, who has made such an impressive start for the Toffees, swings one in from the right but can't find a team-mate.

  12. CLOSE!published at 1 min

    Bournemouth 0-0 Everton

The home team are the first to attack and nearly have a first-minute lead. Fine cross from Charlie Daniels on the left is headed just wide by Callum Wilson.

Big test for Everton left-back Bryan Oviedo (above, right) today, who comes in for the injured Leighton Baines.

The Costa Rican has only made one appearance so far this season - in the EFL Cup against Yeovil last month.

This match last season was probably the most thrilling game I commentated on throughout the campaign. This time round there is plenty of potential interest again, not least because of the Ross Barkley-Jack Wilshere factor.

At one time both players have been billed as the next big thing for England but they have stumbled along the way. Their performances this weekend will be of particular interest to Sam Allardyce.

Away from that storyline, the teams they represent have had contrasting fortunes this season. Everton are enjoying a great start under Ronald Koeman while Bournemouth might be starting to see what is meant by second-season syndrome.

Ronald Koeman and brother Erwin, his assistant, are looking fairly chilled in the Vitality Stadium dugout. Erwin's taking the chance to update his social media status. Probably.

Romelu Lukaku tormented Bournemouth here last season, scoring in both the epic 3-3 league draw and the 2-0 FA Cup win. Also on target for the Toffees in both games was Ross Barkley, who lines up against his England team-mate Jack Wilshere in midfield today.

Everton boss Ronald Koeman and Cherries manager Eddie Howe have criticised their teams after their midweek EFL Cup defeats, and I think they will be much improved - and much changed again - on Saturday.

    Prediction: 1-1

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe is not a man given to ranting and raving in his post-match interviews - but when he spoke to BBC Radio Solent, external after Tuesday's EFL Cup defeat by Preston, he sounded as frustrated as he's been in years, apologising to the supporters for the performance, which a media colleague here described to me as "un-Eddie-like".

It was a night to forget off the field as well - with fans angry at the long queues outside the ticket office which forced some to miss the kick-off or give up altogether. And with reports of huge traffic delays today, external on the A338, the main road through Bournemouth, the feelgood factor is overdue for a return.
