That 3-3 draw last November was arguably also a turning point for Everton but it had the opposite effect.

The Toffees developed a habit of conceding late goals and won only two more league games against sides who weren't eventually relegated. The 2-1 win over Bournemouth at Goodison on 30 April proved to be the last under previous manager Roberto Martinez.

Everton look a different side under Ronald Koeman and lie second in the Premier League with four wins and a draw so far. Victory here would represent their best start since the title-winning 1969-70 season.

And if Manchester City are beaten at Swansea this afternoon, they could even be top tonight.

However, a team featuring six changes were knocked out of the EFL Cup by Norwich on Tuesday. Can they get back on track on the south coast?

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe says last season's 3-3 thriller "was a turning point in our season", inspiring three successive wins in which Chelsea and Manchester United were beaten.

"We looked like we were down and out and beaten with about 30 seconds of the game to go and we scored that last-gasp goal to make it 3-3 and I think that revitalised our season.

"We need to find that determination again if we are going to stay up."

The Cherries are fourth bottom with only one league win so far this season and, after a 4-0 drubbing at Manchester City a week ago, lost at home to Preston in the EFL Cup on Tuesday.

One change from their previous Premier League outings for both Bournemouth and Everton.

For the Cherries, striker Callum Wilson comes in for Joshua King who had been ever-present in the league. The Norway forward is not even in the 18-man squad, suggesting he may be injured.

Toffees left-back Leighton Baines, who scored the winner when these sides met at Goodison Park in April, has a hamstring problem and is replaced by Bryan Oviedo.

However, midfielder Gareth Barry (ankle) and striker Romelu Lukaku (toe) are both passed fit to play.

Yes, what a game that was: Everton leading 2-0 until the 80th minute, Bournemouth bringing it back to 2-2, Ross Barkley sparking a pitch invasion by making it 3-2 to Everton deep, deep into injury time only for Junior Stanislas to level again in time added on for the enthusiastic away celebrations.

A nightmare for any journalist writing an on-the-whistle report.

Anyway, time to look forward to today's game. Let's crack on with the team news...
