The two teams will be on their way back out for the second period in west London shortly.

The two clubs' respective owners - Tony Fernandes and Massimo Cellino - shared a friendly exchange before kick-off. I'm sure Fernandes is still smiling, given the half-time scoreline at Loftus Road.

Having looked at the replays again, it appears to be a Sol Bamba own goal that put the home side ahead.

This is the first match of a Championship double header today.

At 16:30 BST, we'll have live text commentary of Sheffield Wednesday v Aston Villa.

Both sides hope to be challenging for promotion this season - the Owls were beaten play-off finalists last term, while relegated Villa have renewed optimism under new boss Roberto Di Matteo.

The first Saturday of the season provided plenty of stories, including a dream debut for Ipswich's Grant Ward and a goalscoring return for Ched Evans at Chesterfield.

Here are five things you may have missed from Saturday's EFL fixtures.

  6. HALF-TIME: QPR 1-0 Leedspublished at 12:46 British Summer Time 7 August 2016

    Nedum OnuohaImage source, Rex Features

QPR lead against Leeds at half-time, with Nedum Onouha's scrappy fourth-minute opener separating the sides.

Rangers have also hit the post twice and are good value for their one-goal advantage at the interval.

    Garry MonkImage source, Rex Features

Garry Monk, dressed in a shirt, tie and navy jumper, has a big team talk ahead of him.

It's been a disappointing first half from his Leeds side, this.

Into one minute of stoppage time.

  8. Postpublished at 44 mins

    QPR 1-0 Leeds

Leeds create their best chance of the first half, during which they have been particularly tepid in attack.

QPR don't deal with a cross which finds a way through to Stuart Dallas, but the Northern Ireland international can't direct his shot on target.

  9. Postpublished at 42 mins

    QPR 1-0 Leeds

Olamide Shodipo looks like he has a bit of potential.

QPR's teenage winger, who is making his EFL debut today, has put himself about and looked composed on the ball, with a trick or two as well.

He may be one to watch this season.

  10. QPR hit the post againpublished at 37 mins

    QPR 1-0 Leeds

QPR striker Sebastian Polter hits the post for a second time in the first half, this time with a much more orthodox attempt.

Rangers break on the counter-attack, the big German gets the ball on his left foot and fires against the upright from about 15 yards.

  11. YELLOW CARDpublished at 32 mins

    QPR 1-0 Leeds

Two QPR bookings now, as debutant Jake Bidwell sees yellow.

He gives away a cheap free-kick inside the Leeds half, and then shows his displeasure towards the referee. Can't do that any more with the new rules about dissent, I'm afraid.

  12. QPR hit the postpublished at 29 mins

    QPR 1-0 Leeds

Appeals for a QPR penalty, or at least a free-kick just outside the box, as Massimo Luongo goes down under a challenge.

Nothing given. From the next attack, QPR hit the post as Ronaldo Vieira's clearance ricochets off Sebastian Polter and against the woodwork.

    An escape for the visitors.

  13. YELLOW CARDpublished at 25 mins

    QPR 1-0 Leeds

QPR midfielder Ben Gladwin becomes the first man to see a yellow card in this match.

He brings down Charlie Taylor in a wide position and is booked.

The free-kick from the left touchline is absolutely woeful from Stuart Dallas. Awful.

  14. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 22 mins

    QPR 1-0 Leeds

    Berardi offImage source, Rex Features

Leeds have made an early substitution - right-back Gaetano Berardi trudges straight down the tunnel as he's replaced by Lewie Coyle.

  15. Postpublished at 19 mins

    QPR 1-0 Leeds

QPR are beginning to up the tempo slightly - they're keeping possession the better of the two sides and putting in plenty of crosses.

Leeds goalkeeper Rob Green punches one straight to Nedum Onuoha, who blazes over from the edge of the box.

  16. Postpublished at 14 mins

    QPR 1-0 Leeds

It's been a fairly scratchy opening from both sides - glimpses of quality, but no real fluidity to their play.

QPR will be marginally happier, helped by that early goal of course.

  17. Postpublished at 10 mins

    QPR 1-0 Leeds

Well that certainly wasn't the start that Leeds or new head coach Garry Monk wanted.

You hope and plan all summer, then you go behind to a soft goal inside four minutes of your opening game.

    Nedum Onuoha

I've got no idea who the goalscorer is, but QPR lead with the scruffiest goal you will ever see.

Leeds fail to clear a set-piece and goalkeeper Robert Green punches a loose ball towards his own goal. It may have gone straight in, it may have gone in off Nedum Onuoha. We'll give it to the big defender for now.

Either way, it's 1-0 to the hosts.
