"The referee must see that Niall McGinn is going to tap it into the net! Even if he has rushed to give the penalty decision he could still have sent the goalkeeper off. Derek McInnes will be raging."
Former Aberdeen manager Willie Miller
"They have caused Aberdeen's two central defenders absolutely no problems whatsoever and Aberdeen have controlled the midfield. Over the two games they (Aberdeen) have been by far the better team but as it stands they are out the competition. Aberdeen have got to take their chances. If they don't and they have one lapse at the back, or even if they don't have a lapse, they are out."
Former Aberdeen manager Willie Miller
Well, Aberdeen can surely go into the changing room with hope. They really ought to be in front, but Adam Rooney's penalty was unconvincing, lacking force or any angle to trouble the giant Maribor goalie.

Graeme Shinnie almost makes the breakthrough for the Reds but Jasmin Handanovic does enough to keep out his low shot.
With five minutes to go in the first half it's still goalless.

James Morrison: #bbcsportscot The referee couldn't send off the goalie, having given the penalty. There is now a "double jeopardy" law in place.
Graeme Shinnie is booked for a heavy challenge on his opponent. It looked like a 50-50 but the Scot was just too late. Maribor's Milivoje Novakovic also goes into the Bulgarian referee's book, for using his elbow in a challenge.
Wes Burns smacks a right-footed shot at goal from distance, despite Niall McGinn yelling for a pass in space on the left. Jasmin Handanovic makes a comfortable save.
Referee Nikola Popov won't be the Dons' favourite - certainly, he awarded the penalty but he was a long way from the ball when he clattered Adam Rooney.
The Maribor players rush to congratulate their goalkeeper and the Slovenian fans celebrate their escape. What a crucial moment in the fixture that penalty save may turn out to be.
Oh, no! Adam Rooney's penalty is saved by Handanovic's trailing leg.
The home goalie is shown a yellow card by the Bulgarian referee. I think he is very fortunate to stay on the pitch. He slid in on Adam Rooney and the ref had blown for a penalty before Niall McGinn put the ball in the net.
Adam Rooney is taken down by Maribor goalkeeper Jasmin Handanovic and the Dons have a penalty!
We're approaching the midway point of the first half. Aberdeen need to score, remember, to stay in the competition. There is little between the teams.
Jasmin Handanovic comes off his line quickly to gather a clever Niall McGinn ball that Wes Burns had in his sights and was motoring into the box to collect.
