  6. Oxford keen on Motherwell's Johnsonpublished at 12:46 British Summer Time 4 August 2016

Motherwell manager Mark McGhee is confident of keeping English winger Marvin Johnson, 25, after the club turned down an approach from League One side Oxford United.

"We respect their approach, but I'd be amazed if Oxford have the amount of money it would require to get Marvin out of here," said Well boss Mark McGhee.

"I was at Brighton against Lazio on Sunday and I could have dropped Marvin into that game, and for me he would probably have been the best player on the pitch. Marvin can play in the Championship without any doubt in my mind.

"He's an outstanding athlete, he's an outstanding player, he's got an outstanding attitude towards training, towards playing, towards the team ethic."

Jonny Hayes is out of Aberdeen's Europa League third qualifying round second leg against NK Maribor.

The winger, who scored in last week's 1-1 first-leg draw at Pittodrie, did not travel with the rest of the squad to Slovenia for tonight's game.

Defender Callum Morris, who missed the first leg, has recovered from an Achilles injury but sits it out again due to lack of match practice.

Aberdeen must score at the Ljudski vrt stadium to stay in the competition.

  10. Celtic fans put players 'on edge'published at 11:21 British Summer Time 4 August 2016

Manager Brendan Rodgers says the Celtic fans "put the players on edge" during the Champions League win over Astana.

Moussa Dembele's injury-time penalty sealed a 2-1 win on the night for the Scottish champions and a 3-2 aggregate victory over the Kazakh side.

That put them into Friday's play-off round draw - one tie away from the group stages - after a nervy evening.

"The fans were unbelievable for us, but I think they need to show a little bit of patience as well," Rodgers said.
