  5. Tynecastle beckons...published at 14:09 British Summer Time 7 August 2016

    Hearts v Celtic (14:15 KO)

We won't linger on that game, the first goalless draw of this fledgling Premiership season. It's on to Edinburgh we go now as champions Celtic prepare to open their campaign.

  6. FULL-TIMEpublished at 14:05 British Summer Time 7 August 2016

    St Johnstone 0-0 Aberdeen

An end-to-end flurry in the final minute, but like most of what preceded it, neither side can find any inspiration with the final pass.  In all honesty neither side really did enough to win it.

  7. Saints' last chance?published at 90 mins

    St Johnstone 0-0 Aberdeen

Steven Anderson gets up well to head a flighted corner from the left back towards goal, but Dons keeper Joe Lewis collects it - and takes a whack for his troubles.   We're into two minutes of injury time now...

  8. ...is give us a goal?published at 85 mins

    St Johnstone 0-0 Aberdeen

Aberdeen's Ryan Jack almost obliges from a decent left-wing cross, but his well-directed header is saved by the diving Alan Mannus.

  9. All we are saying...published at 80 mins

    St Johnstone 0-0 Aberdeen

There's plenty of endeavour at McDiarmid Park, on a sunny day in Perth. Some of the challenges are getting a little spicy - Adam Rooney perhaps slightly fortunate to escape any punishment after colliding with Brian Easton.  But it would be a surprise if this game ended up anything other than goalless...

  10. 'A bit of quality' lackingpublished at 13:46 British Summer Time 7 August 2016

    St Johnstone 0-0 Aberdeen

Former Aberdeen defender Willie Miller on Radio Scotland: "It's fierce, it's fiery and competitive.  I just wish someone would put their foot on the ball and produce a bit of quality."

There's been plenty of endeavour at McDiarmid Park, but not enough quality as yet.

  12. Chance for Donspublished at 69 mins

    St Johnstone 0-0 Aberdeen

A half-chance for Andrew Considine on the edge of the Saints box, but his left-footed drive over the turf does not have enough power to trouble Alan Mannus. Signs of life with 20 minutes left though...

  13. Wotherspoon on for Saintspublished at 66 mins

    St Johnstone 0-0 Aberdeen

Saints boss Tommy Wright makes a second change, sending on midfielder David Wotherspoon for the ineffective Blair Alston.

    St Johnstone 0-0 Aberdeen

The highlights of this game might not take too long to edit, as things stand, but you can watch them on Sportscene tonight, at the new earlier time of 19:30 BST on BBC Two. 16. Penalty claim for Donspublished at 60 mins

    St Johnstone 0-0 Aberdeen

Well, 'claim' may be too strong a description for Kenny McLean after the Aberdeen midfielder goes down rather easily in the box.  Referee Willie Collum, who's got most things right today, waves it away.  Graeme Shinnie then sends a dangerous ball across the face of the box, but it doesn't find a taker.

  17. Burns' fright over free-kickpublished at 13:26 British Summer Time 7 August 2016

    St Johnstone 0-0 Aberdeen

Former Aberdeen defender Willie Miller on BBC Radio Scotland: "Someone needs to have a word in the ear of Wes Burns.  The Aberdeen centre-backs have come up all the way up for the free-kick and he whips it right across everyone and out for a goal-kick. But no-one seems to say anything these days. They just trot back and get into their defensive positions."

  18. CLOSE!published at 49 mins

    St Johnstone 0-0 Aberdeen

Chance for Saints.  Good ball whipped across the face of goal from the right wing by Blair Alston, Danny Swanson directs it back into the box but Graham Cummins - under pressure from Anthony O'Connor - can't get any purchase on it with his left foot, and it rather dribbles into the grateful arms of Joe Lewis.
