    Dundee United 3-1 Partick Thistle

Dundee United manager Ray McKinnon: "Overall I am really pleased about tonight. There are huge positives. Blair Spittal did well and Tope was fantastic but Cammy Smith's composure and his movement for the goals was fantastic. There is quality through the leagues. It's just about impossible to bowl teams over nowadays. We just need to keep this going, keep the performances up."

  5. Archibald downcastpublished at 22:06 British Summer Time 9 August 2016

    Dundee United 3-1 Partick Thistle

Partick Thistle manager Alan Archibald: "It was awful. It was the opposite of the weekend. I feel sorry for our fans who paid good money to travel here and pay in to the game. Guys who we usually depend on just didn't do it for us today. We've had positive results but that has brought us back down. Nobody got pass marks tonight."

  6. 'It bodes well'published at 22:03 British Summer Time 9 August 2016

    Alloa 1-0 Inverness CT

Alloa manager Jack Ross: "We restricted Inverness to few clear-cut chances. I am enormously proud of my players. I think it is 44 years since the club has been at this stage of the competition. I just wanted them to win the game. It won't be easy, whoever we get (in the last eight). Our record in the competition (has been) fantastic. Neil Parry had a great save in the first half and we were under the cosh at that point. With having the goal, we always had something to protect and we did that very well. The players are loving that feeling of coming in having won the game. It bodes well but I've been in football long enough to know it can change very quickly."

  7. Quitongo the conquerorpublished at 21:58 British Summer Time 9 August 2016

    Hamilton 1-2 Morton

"Quitongo, I thought he was absolutely superb. He ran that back four ragged. I think Jim Duffy's side are going to be a force this season. A thoroughly deserved victory for them tonight."

  8. 'The cups are a bonus'published at 21:53 British Summer Time 9 August 2016

    Dundee United 3-1 Partick Thistle

Dundee United's hat-trick hero Cammy Smith: "We came here tonight wanting to take the game to them. They are no mugs, it's a great victory. We are down in the Championship so this year it's all about bouncing back. The cups are a bonus, we are concentrating o the league. It was a great performance by us, we looked dangerous, we have to be happy with tonight's work. Aberdeen thought my best interests were to go out on loan this season. It wasn't like I was being shoved out the door. I am enjoying playing regular football. It's a long season ahead. I want to get goals this season."
