Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho: "It was difficult. We had our chances in the first half, we could have scored and it would have been a different match. But we didn't.

"They kept organised and had plenty of players behind the ball but with players ready to do something on the counter attack. It was difficult and we needed to win.

"One week, three defeats. One week, three victories. But I was not depressed by the defeats and I am not over the moon with three wins.

"Since the first minute we were waiting for the goal but it didn't arrive. You never know what happens and Sergio Romero made a good save when the score was 0-0.

"I had good players on the bench to help change the game. Wayne Rooney gave us different positions and speed when the opposing team was getting tired."

Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic: "It was not an easy game, we played well, created chances but this is a typical game. When you don't score in the beginning, the spaces get smaller and smaller. After the goal, we had more space but it was a decent game. We won and that is what counts after losing against Feyenoord.

"If you want to go through, you need to win the game, we did that. We could have done much more though and I expect much more from the team. We did not score as we did against Leicester but it is good for confidence. If we continue this and step it up, we will do good."

In his press conference yesterday, Jose Mourinho, referring to the negative headlines that accompanied his side losing three games in a week, said, if Manchester United won tonight, he expected the media reaction to be just as positive following three successive wins as it had been negative before.

After this performance, I am not sure he will get his wish.

Still some edgy moments for Manchester United to contend with as Jaba Lipartia scuffs a shot wide from the penalty spot.

Sergio Romero then makes an easy save off Olexandr Karavaev's header which had no power in it.

Wayne Rooney swings in a corner and Marouane Fellaini takes it on the volley, but it sails wide of goal.

Could have been a stunning strike, that, if he had caught it cleanly.

Again, Marouane Fellaini gives the ball away and it's to Ivan Petriak of all Zorya players but his cross is blocked by a defender in red.

At the other end, Mikhail Sivakov does well to head the ball away from on top of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic's hooked strike is cleared off the line by a Zorya defender but the ball had already gone out when Anthony Martial crossed it in.

Into the last 10 minutes, Manchester United - leading at home - should not have any problems seeing this game out.
