This is how it starts. I've watched Terminator II.

Skynet or somebody has just had a group of tiny robots dancing to music at the side of the Etihad pitch.

    This today. Armageddon tomorrow.

Anyway, the humans are back out on the pitch. Is that Kelechi Iheanacho?

Mathew Shields: Guardiola looking like a fraud.

jaleel oladipo: Never a fan of his boredom, ball-hugging tactics and never will be. Zero shot on goal says it all - teams have worked you out.

Yousuf Ali: If you pressure City's back 3, you have a chance to win. Luckily for other managers, Pep's putting pride before practicality.

It is subdued at the Etihad, but to be fair these City fans have not had a lot to shout about.

The goal came from a shocking error defensively. It was a misunderstanding - John Stones to Vincent Kompany, but the Belgian went forward.

Southampton have defended well and looked threatening, they deserve the lead.

This is the first time City have not had a shot on target in the first half under the management of Pep Guardiola - that's the first time in 15 games!

Southampton pressing from the front has been impressive - Charlie Austin, Nathan Redmond and Dusan Tadic smell blood and City look very shaky.

    There's another mistake in this.

David Ljunggren: I'm confused. People keep telling what a great player Stones is and I keep seeing him make terrible mistakes.

Simon, from York: The problem with having a ball playing centre back is that sometimes they'll play a perfect through ball to an opposing striker. No one can score if the ball is in Row Z, people forget that.

Dave, Manchester: This obsession with endlessly passing the ball around our own box is utterly ridiculous. It isn't tactical genius, it's stupid.

Man City are all over the shop at the back. Nathan Redmond, who like Dusan Tadic is switching wings, is giving the defenders a torrid time so far.

He again runs at the backline (if you can call it a line), but City manage to clear.

At the other end Ilkay Gundogan scuffs a shot wide.

Sam Barker: John Stones, the best ball-playing defender that England has to offer. It's starting to click why we lost to Iceland now...

John Stones has misplaced two passes so far (in yellow). It's the location of them both, and the direction, which is worrying for Manchester City...

I am not sure he is offside, I think that is a very harsh decision. Sergio Aguero is offside, he goes for the ball, but it goes miles over him. John Stones ran from an offside position and scored, that goal should stand.

Redeemed!!! John Stones tucks in from a free-kick from the right.

Look at the glee on his face as he runs off celebrating.

    Ah! He's offside.

Actually, the replay seems to suggest he wasn't.

    Anyway, Southampton still lead.

Wow John Stones, He has played it back and it has gone past the centre-half. He hasn't even looked. Nathan Redmond is alert to it and rounded Claudio Bravo and hits it into an empty net.

The back three does not suit City.

The amount of bodies Southampton get forward, City have to be so intricate with their passing.
