Benik Afobe gets on the end of a Bournemouth free-kick but his header loops on to the crossbar as the visitors are denied a late goal.

Boro will have to wait for four minutes of added time before they can celebrate a win properly.

Boro's support are in good voice as a home win looms on the horizon.

Bournemouth might have 10 men but they are doing all the pressing. Adam Smith has a shot at goal but it goes over.

Bournemouth will have to play the rest of the game with 10 men after Andrew Surman goes off injured with manager Eddie Howe having already made his three substitutions.

Bournemouth have got better since the changes but Boro are holding firm for the time being.

Was that a penalty? Ben Gibson has a bit of Benik Afobe's shirt as the Bournemouth player goes down in the box but referee Stuart Attwell waves away the visiting side's penalty appeals.

Bournemouth have a free-kick 25 yards out and Harry Arter takes it but can only send it over.

An opening for Bournemouth. Charlie Daniels squares the ball to Adam Smith and his shot is blocked on its way over.

Gaston Ramirez gets one of the loudest cheers of the afternoon as he goes off and is replaced by Grant Leadbitter.

It should be 3-0 to Boro. Alvaro Negredo is played through on goal but his first-time shot is struck tamely and keeper Artur Boruc easily saves.

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe makes a double substitution to try to get his side back in the game. Callum Wilson is replaced by Benik Afobe and Jordon Ibe is hauled off as Ryan Fraser comes on.

Jordon Ibe looked dangerous in the first half for Bournemouth and, if his team-mates can get the ball to him up the pitch, that might be their best way back into the game.

Now this in absolutely no way does any justice to the great goal that Gaston Ramirez has just scored, but it does show that he ran from almost the halfway line before scoring for Middlesbrough.
