Bristol City boss Lee Johnson says no club has yet matched their valuation for forward Jonathan Kodjia.

The 26-year-old was omitted from the matchday squad as the Robins beat Aston Villa 3-1 at Ashton Gate.

"We are in a position where we don't have to sell our best players unless a buying club comes up with sufficient dosh," Johnson said.

"I left Jonathan out because of all the speculation, but nothing is signed and sealed yet. If he does leave we have contingency plans in place."

Queens Park Rangers manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink says he was happy his side could eke out a 1-0 win against Wigan Athletic.

"Overall it was a very solid performance, it was a grinder, and at times a little bit nervous," Hasselbaink said.

Wigan Athletic boss Gary Caldwell was pleased with his side's attitude despite the defeat.

Caldwell said: "I can't fault the desire, but we have to get better in terms of know-how and playing in the right areas."

Huddersfield boss David Wagner says Rajiv van La Parra picked a perfect time to open his account for the Terriers, who stayed top of the table with a 1-0 win over Wolves.

"He chose the best moment to score his first goal. Everybody knows how difficult it was to get him here on loan last season and he was desperate to come here," Wagner said.

Wolves suffered their first defeat under head coach Walter Zenga, but the former Sampdoria boss says they have a long way to go.

"The Championship is a difficult league but not an impossible league and this is a long season with many games left to play," the Italian said.

Reading manager Jaap Stam was happy with his side's focus as they bounced back from a three-game losing run to beat Cardiff City.

"We have worked a lot on not conceding stupid goals from set-pieces, as we did at Newcastle and Wolves, and got that out of our system," Stam said.

Cardiff boss Paul Trollope was frustrated with his side, after conceding though Yann Kermorgant's strike in the 89th minute.

"We thought we had this one in the palm of our hands at half-time and that we would go on to win. But not taking those chances came back to haunt us so we need to improve that."

Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic says Tom Cairney has the ability to be a Premier League player, after he scored the winner against his former club Blackburn Rovers.

"[With] his quality, he's clinical. He's a player who doesn't lose passes. He normally completes around 90%. He's a very important part of our squad and I like this player," Jokanovic said.

Rovers manager Owen Coyle was optimistic about his side's performance despite their winless run in the league continuing.

"What I do know moving forward, if we perform like that and we look to add to the squad, then I know it will leave us in a good place and be a platform to drive ourselves up the Championship table," he said.

Birmingham City boss Gary Rowett was happy to bounce back from their defeat by local rivals Wolves last week with a comfortable victory against Norwich City.

"The players showed a lot of character on and off the ball and was it the hardest we have worked let alone the best we have played," Rowett said.

Norwich only had themselves to blame for the defeat, according to boss Alex Neil.

"In this league if you do not scrap you are in trouble and against Birmingham we were not at the races. We lost the game as we were makers of our own downfall," he said.

Rotherham United boss Alan Stubbs says some players may have to leave the club after they were thrashed by South Yorkshire rivals Barnsley.

"Today is obviously very disappointing. If the players aren't prepared to work hard then we will have players out and have players in. There may be more going out than I originally expected," Stubbs said.

Meanwhile, Barnsley manager Paul Heckingbottom was delighted with his side's performance as victory took them to third in the Championship.

"We have shown we can win games in this league and if you want to achieve anything, that's what you have got to do. The style of the win and the scoreline puts the icing on the cake."

Newcastle have secured their third successive win and inflicted Brighton's first defeat of the season.

Jamaal Lascelles gave the Magpies a 1-0 half-time lead and, after Albion's Sam Baldock was set off for a second bookable offence, Jonjo Shelvey's brilliant free-kick secured victory.

Nothing much is happening. It doesn't look like Newcastle's goal will be threatened again.

The Belgian hasn't had much to do today but dives to his right to palm away a fierce shot from Albion midfielder Beram Kayal from inside the box.

A long throw from Burno causes a bit of trouble in the Newcastle area and they put the ball out for a corner.

Anthony Knockaert then crosses and finds Lewis Dunk at the back post but the centre-back can only send his header back across goal and behind for a goal kick.

Brighton finally have a worthwhile effort at goal.

Substitute Kazenga LuaLua has a quick one-two with Tomer Hemed and blasts towards goal from just outside the box.

However he drags his left-footed shot wide of the far post. Matz Sels dived towards it but it was never going to trouble the Belgian.
