Ben Creasey: So no Rashford of Noble in the England squad! But Walcott is, Big Sam has had a shocker

Dave Allen: No consideration for form. Smalling hasn't had a sniff, Henderson and Antonio have been woeful and where is Barkley!?!?

Paul Rendall: Nothing really new in rest of squad should have picked a few more fresh faces instead of all the deadwood that failed in France

    Athletic Bilbao 0-1 Barcelona

Artiz Aduriz drills hard and low for goal from 20 yards out but goalkeeper Marc Andre ter Stegen gets down sharply to clutch on and keep it out.

It has been a quiet 10 minutes for the hosts. They need something.

    Athletic Bilbao 0-1 Barcelona

    Barcelona are incensed.

Benat has flopped to the turf when the most that Denis Suarez did was breath on him.

Sergio Busquets and Luis Suarez get just as close to the referee to complain about the award of the free-kick and are given yellows for their trouble.

Kyle: I'm a big Newcastle supporter but I'm surprised he hasn't recalled Defoe. Glad Drinkwater is called up too.

    Atheltic Bilbao 0-1 Barcelona

You can see why Samuel Umtiti has kept his place alongside Gerard Pique in the heart of the Barca defence despite the return to fitness of Javier Mascherano.

The former Lyon man brings the ball out of defence with a neat change of feet and spurt of pace and draws a foul in midfield.

Just a reminder that club policy at Athletic Bilbao to only have players with roots or upbringing in the Basque region.

That is an area with a population of just over two million.

That is about the same size as the West Midlands.

And they hold their own against the galaxy of galacticos at the Spanish top two.

No Mark Noble, but Sam Allardyce does name the midfielder's West Ham team-mate Michail Antonio.

Since August 2015, no English midfielder has scored more Premier League goals than Antonio. Tottenham's Dele Alli has also scored 10.

Manchester United's 'forward' Wayne Rooney has been named as a midfielder.

Anyway, we want you to share your thoughts on Big Sam's first England squad by using #bbcfootball., external

Is there a player who should have been included? Are you shocked it wasn't more radical?

That goal seems to have settled Barcelona into their groove. They are stroking the ball about with sensitivity of concert pianists.

    Sensual.

    Ivan Rakitic

    A sumptuous team goal.

Barcelona leave vapour trails down the left flank before Arda Turan gets his head up and picks out the run of the on-bombing Ivan Rakitic with a dead-eyed cross.

Rakitic pulses his neck muscles and buries the heads into the far corner from 12 yards to put the visitors ahead.

Lionel Messi is still rocking the bleach boy look.

It is like when Robbie Williams left Take That, ditched the clean-cut stuff and hung out with the Gallaghers at Glastonbury.

It takes some getting used to.

  14. Chance!published at 12 mins

    Athletic Bilbao 0-0 Barcelona

It looks like Pep chose right in going for Claudio Bravo when he wanted a ball-playing Barcelona goalkeeper.

Marc Andre ter Stegen commits defensive hare-kare sidefooting the ball straight to Benat on the edge of the box as he attempts to play out of his own box.

Benat wallops a shot goalwards but it is straight back at Ter Stegen and catches the goalkeeper flush on the chin, deflecting away to safety.

    A let-off.

  15. YELLOW CARDpublished at 9 mins

    Athletic Bilbao 0-0 Barcelona

Javier Eraso attempts to nudge the ball one side of Samuel Umtiti and dart around the other.

The ball hits the Barca defender on the arm though to thwart his plans. The referee decides Umtiti has leaned into that one though and brandishes yellow.

    Athletic Bilbao 0-0 Barcelona

Barcelona slice and dice the Athletic Bilbao defence with Lionel Messi picking out Luis Suarez's run and the Uruguyan squaring back inside for his partner-in-crime to poke home.

But Suarez was a smidge offside.

    Ominous for the hosts though.

The first counter attack from Barcelona and they hare forward like they have not eaten meat for a week.
