  1. Spotlight on mental healthpublished at 12:53 British Summer Time 30 August 2016

The issue of mental health in Scottish football has been discussed at Hampden this morning.

Support Within Sport was launched at the national stadium with the help of Inverness CT manager Richie Foran.

    • The study received more than 600 responses from players across the SPFL clubs
    • Of that number, 64% said they or a team-mate had experienced mental health issues
    • One hundred and sixty two of the players returned a follow-up questionnaire
    • Forty required "face to face intervention"

Foran volunteered his support to the programme and has since ensured his Inverness squad completed the survey.

  9. Why the Tartan Army love Faddypublished at 09:48 British Summer Time 30 August 2016

Feeling nervous about Scotland's chances in Malta and the World Cup qualifying campaign as a whole? Well, James McFadden had a knack for doing the miraculous in a Scotland jersey and even though his international days are almost certainly over - he refuses to formally retire "because you just never know" - he still has a way to gee up the troops.

Speaking about the impending campaign in the group that also includes England, Lithuania, Slovakia and Slovenia, McFadden said: "We've got to be confident we're going to win the group.

"We've got to believe or we're as well not turning up.

"It'll be tough, because there are some tough teams in it, but we've got to express ourselves and do better than we did in the last group.

"We need the injection of youth but there are a few players there who could be looking at it and thinking this could be their last chance, so it's got to be the point where we step up and take it to the teams in the group."

John Hughes was speaking on BBC Radio Scotland's Sportsound last night. He told listeners that he left as manager of Inverness Caledonian Thistle because he felt his time there was "turning a bit sour".
