  1. 'Souness put one on my chin, I wasn't getting up'published at 10:56 British Summer Time 31 August 2016

The life and times of Ian Durrant

Former Rangers midfielder and coach Ian Durrant was a guest on Sportsound last night.

He gave some fascinating insights into his 25 years at Ibrox, including his relationship with manager Graeme Souness.

    "He was ruthless," says Durrant.

"We had a few altercations, one on the training ground when he put one on my chin and I wasn't getting up for the second round," he recalls, laughing.

"I overstepped the mark trying to be too fly and he put me in my place. After that, we had a great relationship.

"He didn't want to be in second place and he knew what lay ahead."

  5. No further bids for Johnson - McGheepublished at 10:00

    BBC Scotland

Motherwell manager Mark McGhee says the club has received no further bids for winger Marvin Johnson.

Oxford United made an offer reported to be about £300,000 earlier this month, which the Fir Park club rejected.

Johnson has since submitted a transfer request, although Motherwell insist they will only sell him for a fee that matches their valuation of the 25-year-old.

"We don't have an offer for Marvin Johnson other than the one from a couple of weeks ago that didn't meet our valuation," said McGhee.

  6. Do Scottish clubs still have chequebooks?published at 09:59 British Summer Time 31 August 2016

    Transfer deadline day

BBC Scotland's Brian McLauchlin looks ahead to what moves Scottish clubs could make on transfer deadline day, though he is not expecting a frenzy of activity.

"With austerity very much a dominant force in the Scottish game, clubs, with a few exceptions, are more likely to shuffle their pack with loan deals rather than open their cheque books (do they still have them?)

"That said Celtic, with millions of pounds about to bolster their bank account from their Champions League exploits, are again likely to spend big.

"But there is little chance of any of the cash finding its way to clubs in Scotland as Brendan Rodgers looks beyond this country to bolster his squad."

  9. McGhee stoic over Scotlandpublished at 09:40

    Richard Wilson
    BBC Scotland

Assistant manager Mark McGhee says Scotland need to make sure that the withdraw of four players from the squad does not become a blow to their qualification chances.

He said it is a disappointment to lose Leigh Griffiths, Kevin McDonald, James McArthur and Kieren Tierney, but that opportunities now exist for other players to step up.

McGhee admitted it was a painful summer watching the European championships, but believes that hurt will drive the squad on in their bid to qualify for the World Cup.

The players have been warned, though, that opening game opponents Malta will be a more serious proposition than Gibraltar, who Scotland faces in their Euro qualifiers.

  11. Good Burke Well Donepublished at 09:20

The biggest deal to date involving a Scottish player? Scotland player Oliver Burke sealed a £13m move to Bundesliga side RB Leipzig from Nottingham Forest.

The 19-year-old, who has signed a five-year contract with the German team, Burke's fee surpasses the £12m Aston Villa paid Fulham for Scottish striker Ross McCormack earlier this month.

"He is an outstanding talent with an awful lot of potential," RB Leipzig's sporting director Ralf Rangnick.
