Spain have broken the dead lock in Albania and it is two familiar names with the goals.

Chelsea striker Diego Costa opened the scoring before Manchester City forward Nolito scored moments after coming off the bench.

In the same group, Macedonia have turned it around against Italy and now lead 2-1 after goals from Ilija Nestorovski and Ferhan Hasani.

In the Republic of Ireland and Wales' group, Austria have equalised for a second time against Serbia.

    James McClean

It's been hard, hard work, but the Republic of Ireland finally find a way through once again.

It's an opportunistic, but well taken, strike by James McClean as he stops James McCarthy's shot with his back to goal, turns and just as Jon Walters leaps out of his way, McClean sidefoots into the corner.

Finally Seamus Coleman manages to get in behind the defence. He arrows in a cross but again Moldova clear. Frustrating stuff for the visitors.

    Moldova 1-1 Republic of Ireland

The Republic of Ireland are finding themselves really frustrated by a packed Moldova defence. When the visitors attack, the hosts have seven or eight players in and around their own box. They then look to break quickly when they regain possession. An effective tactic so far, but do they have the stamina to keep it up?

Shane Long signals to the bench. He wants to come off and it looks like he's picked up an injury. Callum O'Dowda replaces him, making his first competitive appearance for the Republic of Ireland.

The hosts also make a change as Eugeniu Cebotaru is on for Eugen Zasavitchi.

Again there's a lack of communication between goalkeeper and defence as Darren Randolph and Seamus Coleman go for the same ball and ultimately give away a corner.

Alexandru Dedov takes it but Shane Duffy clears.

Just over 10 minutes into the second half and the Republic of Ireland need to get Wes Hoolahan more involved. He's only had four touches of the ball in this half.

Better from the Republic of Ireland.

Jon Walters works some space for himself down the right and whips in a cross. It is a good one and James McClean attacks it, but doesn't get enough on his header and Nicolae Calancea claws the ball out of the air.

A bit of miscommunication between Darren Randolph and his defence as he comes out to punch away a free-kick but instead he collides with Jon Walters and is momentarily stranded. The shot comes in but a defender blocks.

This isn't a good start to the half by the Republic of Ireland.

Prior to today, Igor Bugaev last scored for Moldova five years ago but when he does score it is generally good news for his national team. They have won four of the last five games he has scored in.

They've come out confident in this half, playing one-touch passing as they pursue a second.

Right then. The Republic of Ireland will want a quick goal. It's Moldova who get us back under way.

The players are back out on the pitch. It's looking chilly out there, but that goal just before half time has warmed up the home fans. They have found their voice and loudly cheer their players as they take up their positions.

    Moldova 1-1 Republic of Ireland

A sucker punch right on the stroke of half-time for the Republic of Ireland. That's Moldova's first goal in qualifying. Prior to that they had conceded seven and scored none in two games.

    Igor Bugaev

    Wow!

The Republic of Ireland haven't looked in danger of conceding all game but suddenly they are hit on the counter as Aleksandru Gatcan lifts the ball over the visitors' defence - which has pushed right up to the halfway line - and Igor Bugaev breaks quickly. He keeps his composure and fires across the keeper.
