    Inter Milan 0-0 Juventus

A rare blip follows from Buffon, who makes rather a mess of Antonio Candreva's bouncing cross towards his near post. The ball pings off the keeper's chest - but fortunately for him, not too far, and he can collect it before any damage is done.

Two good breaks in quick succession by Eder down the left for Inter. Both times he looks for Mauro Icardi in the centre - his first effort is intercepted by Juve keeper Gianluigi Buffon, his second is met by the striker, who has to deal with some serious buffeting from the visitors' defence, and the header drifts over.

Paulo Dybala wins and takes a corner for Juventus. It's a good delivery too, but Leonardo Bonucci cannot quite get a connection - although he is having his shirt tugged all over the pkace by Davide Santon. Mike Dean wouldn't have stood for that.

    Inter Milan 0-0 Juventus

Forty-nine seconds after the restart, we have a yellow card. Inter Milan's Gary Medel is rather unlucky, as it's team-mate Danilo D'Ambrosio who catches Alex Sandro. The former Cardiff midfielder just happened to be in the vicinity at the wrong time, but his protests to the referee make zero difference.

No changes at half-time - off we go.

The players are rejoining us. Gonzalo Higuain heads not for the pitch, but for the bench; he is still wearing his green substitute's bib. His time may come later, but not just yet.

It will be interesting to see if Juventus manager Max Allegri makes any changes for the second half. Does he bring on Gonzalo Higuain? I would imagine that Frank De Boer will be happy to keep things as they are.

Toniwater: I think the tweet at 30mins was talking about Rotund Ronaldo turning 40 #Greatest9OfAllTime, external He was fantastic!

It was indeed. But if I call him Rotund Ronaldo, I'll get complaints.

Well, that was much better than I was expecting from Inter given their struggles this season. They've come the closest to scoring, with Mauro Icardi shaving the post after getting the better of Giorgio Chiellini. If Frank De Boer's team can keep up these levels, we're going to have a very interesting second half.

  10. HALF-TIMEpublished at 17:52 British Summer Time 18 September 2016

    Inter Milan 0-0 Juventus

The first half ends with a third Juve booking. Kwadwo Asamoah goes sliding in on Joao Mario; it's a clear yellow.

Now it's Miranda shining in central defence for Inter. The Brazilian clears a cross from the right under pressure from Mario Mandzukic, then seems to be penned in by his own corner flag. He keeps calm, plays a one-two with a team-mate, and finds an escape route. Quality stuff.

    Inter Milan 0-0 Juventus

A classy moment from Juve centre-back Giorgio Chiellini. Chasing back towards his own goal in the left centre-back position with Antonio Candreva breathing down his neck, the defender judges an awkward bouncing ball perfectly and clears under pressure. Could have been tricky for the champions if he had got that wrong.

Inter midfielder Joao Mario commits the clearest handball of the weekend, batting possession away from Kwadwo Asamoah near halfway. I'm not sure you can do that in basketball, let alone football. I'm not sure how the Portugal international avoided a yellow card there, either.

  14. Postpublished at 38 mins

    Inter Milan 0-0 Juventus

So close from Miralem Pjanic. The Juve midfielder has space to pick his shot 20 yards from goal... it misses the post by a fraction with the goalkeeper stranded.

Just had another look at the Icardi chance of a moment ago, and I have done him an injustice - it was far closer than I realised, grazing the post.

    Chances at both ends...

Juve go first. Paulo Dybala's sublime pass switches play from right to left, and Alex Sandro is into the space to cross on to the head of an unmarked Sami Khedira. The Germany midfielder, 12 yards from goal, should do more than plant a tame header straight at Samir Handanovic.

Then Inter break. Mauro Icardi's strength leave Giorgio Chiellini all of a panic. The Inter man left his opponent dumped on the floor and looks for the far corner, but cannot get enough bend on the shot and it flies wide.

John McEnerney: Milito & Eto'o some front two under Mou. The greatest 9 of all time hits 40 today "Il Fenomeno", he was something else!

Indeed. Diego Milito, if you missed it earlier, is in the crowd at the San Siro tonight. And a happy 40th birthday to Ronaldo, another former Inter striker of note.

...Ah. Three points at Twickenham for Candreva.

  18. Postpublished at 29 mins

    Inter Milan 0-0 Juventus

Barzagli is guilty of touch too much vigour; he is late into a tackle on Eder, with the studs showing, and can have no arguments about the yellow card he receives. Antonio Candreva stands over the free-kick, 30 yards from goal...

  19. Postpublished at 26 mins

    Inter Milan 0-0 Juventus

Mehdi Benatia, the Juve centre-back deceived by that Eder feint, pulled a muscle trying to recover his ground, and has to come off. Andrea Barzagli is on in his place. Barzagli, a veteran at 35, played the full 90 minutes in midweek as Juve drew 0-0 with Sevilla in the Champions League - and he is straight into the game here with a challenge on Eder.

  20. Postpublished at 23 mins

    Inter Milan 0-0 Juventus

Eder is proving a threat for Inter. The Italian striker takes Joao Mario's square pass, feints to shoot, throws the defender off balance, moves into the space left behind and rolls a shot wide of the post. There's a great "oooooooo" from the crowd.
