    Inter Milan 0-0 Juventus

A good flurry of action. Both sides are pressing, and both defences are being stretched. At one end, Juventus striker Paulo Dybala's shot is blocked by Miranda - back on his feet after the clattering of a moment ago. At the other, Eder delivers a terrific cross towards Inter number nine Mauro Icardi, and only a very well-timed header by Leonardo Bonucci stems the danger.

    Inter Milan 0-0 Juventus

First booking of the day. Juventus wing-back Stephan Lichtsteiner, who has been linked with a move to Inter, stretches too far in trying to close down Miranda, who is sent flying. There are apologies from Lichtsteiner, but it does not save the Switzerland international from the referee's wrath.

    Inter Milan 0-0 Juventus

Decent spell from Inter. Gary Medel has a crack from the best part of 30 yards. Gianluigi Buffon is unperturbed; the ball whizzes into the stand.

Anyway, back at the San Siro: A promising Inter break; Ever Banega releases Eder down the left, but the striker overruns it and can do no more than win a corner as his cross is charged down by Mahdi Benatia. Eder raises a hand in apology to Banega. All will be forgiven if anything comes from the corner, but nothing does.

If you missed the Torino v Empoli game earlier, by the way: Congratulations. It was grim.

    Inter Milan 0-0 Juventus

Inter get a free-kick, around 35 yards out, right-hand side. Ever Banega delivers an outswinger that Mauro Icardi gets a glance to. The ball drifts away harmlessly for a goal kick, though. Early days, here. We're still searching for a pattern.

    Inter Milan 0-0 Juventus

It's patient play from Juve as they spread the ball across the back line. Then, all of a sudden, Giorgio Chiellini hoofs the ball up the pitch and out of play. I hope that hasn't set the tone for the evening. Perhaps Chiellini got confused and thought he was playing in the Torino v Empoli game from earlier.

    Inter Milan 0-0 Juventus

Juventus striker Mario Mandzukic, taking his chance after being selected ahead of Gonzalo Higuain, makes a nuisance of himself chasing a ball down the left. Miranda attempts to remove the striker's shirt and concedes a free-kick, with Paulo Dybala takes, and is cleared.

    Inter Milan 0-0 Juventus

Just a sliver of sunshine creeping into the San Siro; Juventus win an early corner to put a bit of pressure on Inter. Miralem Pjanic takes it, but Eder is back to clear for the home side.

How Inter would love to have this man lining up in their attack. Diego Milito, the striker whose two goals against Bayern Munich won the Champions League for Inter in 2010, has popped in to the San Siro for the night to watch. Milito retired in May, finishing his playing career in his native Argentina.

There's certainly plenty of creativity in Juve's midfield for this one; Kwadwo Asamoah and Miralem Pjanic both have the speed and skill to cause problems for Inter. As Inter's defenders are perfectly capable of causing problems for themselves, the home side could be in for a rough ride.

Inter Milan v Juventus (17:00 BST)

The big news for Juventus is that striker Gonzalo Higuain, the £75.3m summer signing from Napoli, drops to the bench, with Mario Mandzukic coming in to partner Paulo Dybala in attack.

Juventus XI: Buffon; Benatia, Bonucci, Chiellini; Lichtsteiner, Khedira, Pjanic, Asamoah, Alex Sandro; Dybala, Mandzukic.

Inter Milan v Juventus (17:00 BST)

After Inter's poor Europa League showing, manager Frank De Boer more or less reverts to the team who didn't exactly scream conviction in winning 2-1 at Pescara last weekend. Of the seven players brought in against Hapoel Beer Sheva, only Eder keeps his place, at the expense of Ivan Perisic.

Inter Milan XI: Handanovic; D'Ambrosio, Miranda, Murillo, Santon; Joao Mario, Medel; Candreva, Banega, Eder; Icardi.

Inter Milan v Juventus (17:00 BST)

Both teams, though, come into this one on the back of disappointing results in Europe. Juventus drew 0-0 at home to Sevilla in their opening Champions League, while Inter crumbled 2-0 at home to Hapoel Beer Sheva in Southampton's Europa League group.

Inter's defeat was made even more embarrassing by the fact that they enduring it while playing in this kit, which makes them look like a gang of Smurfs dipped in a fountain of highlighter pens.

We stick with Serie A for game two of our live text marathon - and it's the Derby d'Italia, from the San Siro. Domestically, Juventus have picked up where they left off last season: The champions have three league wins from three, lying second after Napoli's 3-1 win over Bologna last night. Inter Milan, by contrast, have been decidedly ropey under new boss Frank De Boer.

  18. A short breakpublished at 16:15 British Summer Time 18 September 2016

Not that it counts for a great deal at this stage of the season, but Torino's point this afternoon moves them up to 13th; Empoli are in 16th, two places above the relegation zone. Crotone's draw means that all 20 Serie A teams are off the mark for the season.

I'm going to take a short break for a cappuccino, and I shall return in about 20 minutes with all the build-up to Inter Milan v Juventus, which I'm hoping will be a far better game than the one I've just watched. Back soon.

  19. Still to come...published at 16:06 British Summer Time 18 September 2016

Inter Milan v Juventus (17:00 BST)

There are two more games to come in Serie A today: the big one is at the San Siro, where Juventus seek to regain the league leadership by beating a very wobbly looking Inter Milan. That's at 17:00 BST, and we'll have live text commentary on the game right here.

Then at 19:45, it's Fiorentina v Roma. We'll keep an eye on that match for you as we focus our attention on Real Madrid's La Liga trip to Espanyol.

    Serie A round-up

No goals in Turin, but plenty elsewhere in Serie A this afternoon. Not, though, for the former Swansea striker Alberto Paloschi, who missed a penalty for Atalanta as they were beaten 3-0 at Cagliari.

Crotone couldn't hold on to their lead against Palermo, but they have collected their first point of the season in a 1-1 draw. Former Fulham and Brentford striker Marcello Trotta scored for Crotone.

Sassuolo beat Genoa 2-0 in the other 14:00 BST kick-off thanks to second-half goals from Matteo Politano and Gregoire Defrel. In the early game, Chievo won 2-1 at Udinese.
