  4. Tait targets derby victory with Steelmenpublished at 17:30

Richard Tait hopes his first taste of the rivalry that surrounds the Lanarkshire derby ends in success at Fir Park.

The Motherwell defender has been an ever-present in the league this season since joining from Grimsby in the summer.

"Obviously every derby has its own little thing about it. I wouldn't say it was hatred towards clubs but for fans it is," said Tait.

"But for us it's mainly to get the three points and if you can do that and make the fans happy, giving them one up on the opposition fans, then that’s a nice thing to do.

"I've not really spoken to many people about it but you know within yourself how important it is to people; so we'll go into the game with a good buzz and look forward to playing against them."

'Well have five points from their five games in the Scottish Premiership - three of which came in their first game of the campaign against Kilmarnock.

A defeat by Rangers was followed by draws against Dundee and Ross County.

"We got the win on the first day of the season and started off so well, but we've not picked up a win since then so that's what we'll be looking to do on Saturday," he added.

  7. Addison targets Kilmarnock returnpublished at 16:50

Miles Addison has targeted Kilmarnock's visit to Celtic Park later this month for his comeback from injury.

The Killie defender has been sidelined since aggravating an ankle injury against Ross County on 20 August.

"I'm hoping to be involved in the Celtic game," said Addison.

"It was frustrating to miss the Rangers game because that was one of the reasons I came up to Scotland, to test myself against top teams."

The 27-year-old Englishman had played through the pain barrier after initially suffering the injury against Clyde in a League Cup tie in July.

However, he said: "It was a bit stupid of me, but I have missed so much football in my past career that if I can play with one leg, if I think I can help my team, then I'm going to do it.

"If the manager asks me to play, I'm going to play and give 100 percent."

  14. Lanarkshire derby 'hugely important'published at 16:05 British Summer Time 15 September 2016

Mark McGhee says the Lanarkshire derby is as important to Motherwell and Hamilton Academical as Man Utd-Man City is to Lancashire.

"They are great games," the Motherwell manager said of Saturday's forthcoming meeting. "It might not be Man Utd-Man City, but it's our local derby and it's hugely important to our supporters.

"It's a massive game for us, also a game that is against a team who I would presume and expect to be at the same level as us.

"We are going to be competing with Hamilton and teams like that who have ambitions to get into the top six and it's an opportunity for us to get a measure of how that is likely to pan out.

"If we can get one over them here, it puts us in a good frame of mind for the rest of the season."

Captain Keith Lasley has shaken off a dead leg, but left-back Joe Chalmers is a doubt with a groin strain and midfielder Carl McHugh misses out again with concussion.

  16. Warburton - 'we're professionals'published at 15:55

Rangers boss Mark Warburton added: "Before Saturday I heard TalkSPORT say, 'Good start to the season. Unbeaten. Things are shaping up well'. But the Scottish version is, 'Just drawn with Kilmarnock - disaster'.

"It's two completely different perspectives on the game."

Reflecting on the Old Firm derby defeat, Warburton went on: "People keep asking me if I'm okay? Of course we're okay. We are professionals. The result hurt so many people, none more so than us, but we have to get on with it."

  17. Things Lucas up at Fir Parkpublished at 15:54 British Summer Time 15 September 2016

Motherwell manager Mark McGhee is hopeful of an upturn in results after adding 24-year-old former Swansea City midfielder Lee Lucas to his squad.

McGhee had also signed forwards Ryan Bowman and Luka Belic on transfer deadline-day after the sale of Marvin Johnson.

But Well, for whom Louis Moult made a scoring return from injury at the weekend, have only taken two points form their last four Scottish Premiership games.

"I'm not encouraged yet," admitted McGhee. "I'm optimistic now that we should improve with Louis back and Ryan Bowman in, and now Lee settled in, and Belic in.

"I would hope to see some improvement both in how we have been playing, consistency and, of course, in results."

  19. Watt reputation for diving?published at 15:37 British Summer Time 15 September 2016

News of Tony Watt winning his appeal against Saturday's yellow card will delight head coach Robbie Neilson, who had earlier rejected the suggestion that his Hearts side are gaining a reputation for diving.

The striker's booking came in a match against Hamilton Academical during which midfielder Sam Nicholson was criticised by some for appearing to go down softly while winning a second-half penalty.

Forward Jamie Walker also received a two-match suspension for taking a tumble during their opening-day defeat by Celtic.

But Neilson insisted that it all boils down to Hearts' attack-minded style.

"We're a team, especially at Tynecastle, who dominates possession and have more shots and more penalty-box entries than anyone else in the Premiership," he said.

"So we are going to get in situations where we're one v one with players and opposition players are going to make mistakes with their tackles, so there will be penalties in the games we play.

"We just hope the referees aren't looking back and seeing instances in the past."
