  1. Watt yellow? Card rescindedpublished at 15:25 British Summer Time 15 September 2016

Hearts striker Tony Watt has had the yellow card shown to him for simulation on Saturday against Hamilton Academical rescinded on appeal.

Hearts appealed against the booking by referee Craig Thomson and it was upheld by the Scottish Football Association' disciplinary tribunal this morning.

Ahead of the news, head coach Robbie Neilson said: "Tony has gone down in the box and there was contact.

"Martin Canning, the Hamilton manager, has viewed it himself and said it was a stonewall penalty."

  2. Warburton unhappy with Rangers criticspublished at 15:00

Rangers boss Mark Warburton has hit out at some of the analysis following his side's Old Firm derby defeat.

Warburton is unhappy with some of the criticism in the wake of the 5-1 loss at Celtic Park.

"I felt some of the comments were inappropriate. The whole media aspect up here is so negative. I'm an Englishman working in Scotland and I find it depressing that some of the comments, some of the programmes on TV, are so negative.

"One of the comments that irritated was: 'Go to your friends on TalkSPORT for a positive outlook'.

"Well I'd rather have a positive outlook. I'm not going to say you enjoy losing but I'd rather have a positive outlook on football than a negative one.

"Too many aspects of the Scottish media are negative and it would be good for everybody in the game if there was a little bit positivity when the situation arises.

"I'm told it's part of the culture. I can't understand it."

Earlier this week, Celtic suffered their heaviest ever defeat in European competition, going down 7-0 to Barcelona in the Champions League.

It is not the only time a Scottish club have suffered a tough loss in Europe.

Here are five other results that Scottish clubs are less than proud of.

  13. Celtic 'can finish third'published at 11:46 British Summer Time 15 September 2016

    BBC Scotland

Former Celtic striker Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink believes Celtic can still finish third in their Champions League qualifying group, despite losing 7-0 to Barcelona in their opening tie.

The Dutchman is adamant that the Spanish side and Manchester City will compete for the top two spots and that Celtic can do the same with Borussia Monchengladbach for third place.

Having watched the German side in action, though, Vennegoor of Hesselink has warned that Celtic face a difficult task.

  14. Scotland head coach 'outstanding' - Brownpublished at 11:44 British Summer Time 15 September 2016

Former Scotland manager Craig Brown has praised the progress made by the women's national side under Anna Signeul.

The Scots could have their qualification for the Euro 2017 finals confirmed today. Should Belgium lose away to Serbia in Group 7 this afternoon, the Scots would be assured of reaching the tournament even if they finish runners-up in their own section.

"I have the highest regard for Anna," Brown told the SFA website., external "I think she's outstanding. I haven't dealt with her coaching, but I've seen her team playing and the only bad performance that they've had in recent times, or unfortunate one, has been at Falkirk when they lost to Iceland.

"But, that apart, Anna has been outstanding, I think. She came to Aberdeen to give a presentation at an awards night for Aberdeen Ladies.

"Her comments and encouragement were fantastic. I have the highest regard for her and I'm delighted for the ladies team. Women's football throughout the world is one of the fastest growing sports, if not the fastest.

"So we've got to keep pace and I think, with the leadership we've got here, we will keep pace. There are some terrific players in the ladies team and I wish them well and great success."

  16. Rangers some way to go - Numanpublished at 11:24 British Summer Time 15 September 2016

    Richard Wilson
    BBC Scotland

Former Rangers defender Arthur Numan believes it will take "two to three" years for the club to be in a position to challenge Celtic for the title.

He says the next few weeks, with Rangers away to Aberdeen and Hearts in the next four games, is a "crucial" period for the manager, Mark Warburton.

Anna Signeul's Scotland Women side could have their qualification for the Euro 2017 finals confirmed today.

If Belgium lose away to Serbia in Group 7 this afternoon, the Scots would be assured of reaching the tournament even if they finish runners-up in their own section. Even then, there's a possibility of their place in the Netherlands being assured should other results go their way on Friday.

  18. Lucas looking for fortune changepublished at 10:30

Motherwell manager Mark McGhee has taken a gamble on Lee Lucas - and, in turn, given the Welshman a second chance.

The midfielder, who spent 15 years with Swansea City until this summer, has only played five senior games despite having reached the age of 24.

And Lucas' nightmare series of injuries continued when he was forced off after only 34 minutes of his Well debut against Annan Athletic in July.

Having been released from his short-term contract with the Scottish Premiership club shortly before the closure of the summer transfer window, Lucas has now been handed another contract until January.

There is even the chance of a longer-term deal should he live up to the promise McGhee has seen on trial - and that injury jinx doesn't return to haunt the midfielder.

  19. Aguero fires extra warning to Celticpublished at 10:05 British Summer Time 15 September 2016

The task facing Celtic in qualifying from their Champions League "group of death" appears even more daunting after Manchester City's 4-0 demolition of Borussia Monchengladbach last night.

In Pep Guardiola's first Group C game in charge, delayed after being hit by torrential Manchester rain on Tuesday, Sergio Aguero scored a hat-trick before substitute Kelechi Iheanacho put the icing on the cake of an impressive performance.

It leaves Celtic bottom of the table following their 7-0 hammering by Barcelona in Spain.

  20. Saints skipper Mackay retirespublished at 10:00 British Summer Time 15 September 2016

Sad news for St Johnstone fans with a recurring hip injury having forced captain Dave Mackay to retire as a player.

The 36-year-old has had two operations since picking up the injury shortly after lifting the Scottish Cup with the Perth club in 2014.

Mackay told his club website: “I've been aware of this issue for the past couple of years and, although the first operation brought about a level of improvement that enabled me to get back playing and feeling fine, there was a gradual deterioration again over a period of time to the extent that I was unable to train.

“A second operation followed which again helped but not to the extent that I feel that I can get back to the fitness levels needed for full-time football.

“The decision hasn't been an easy one, but I've had to take into consideration that I don't want to do irreversible damage that affects me away from football."

Mackay will continue at the club as a coach with St Johnstone Under-20s and is in discussion about "other roles he can play at McDiarmid Park".
