  1. I don't apologise for trying to win - Bartonpublished at 11:51 British Summer Time 16 September 2016

Joey Barton has been talking to talkSPORT, external this morning about his situation at Ibrox.

“They’ve told me to stay away but there are a lot of misconceptions out there at the moment," he said.

“I’ve been asked to re-evaluate the way I’m thinking, but I don’t think they’re going to change - I want Rangers to win!

“We lost to our fiercest rivals at the weekend, we came in to train on Monday and Tuesday and we’re picking the bones of how we get better, how we get Rangers back to the top of Scottish football.

“We’re asked for an opinion and I’m someone who gives an opinion. Two passionate Rangers players have then shared opinions on how we get better as a team and what’s going wrong for us. It’s nothing more and nothing less than that.

“Obviously sometimes the way I communicate can be a bit blunt and a bit direct and it ruffles people’s feathers, which I know I have to work at, but I don’t apologise for trying to win. I care deeply about playing football.

“There is absolutely no issue with me and Andy. We sat down in the dressing room afterwards and spoke through what was said.

“It’s disappointing that certain people are trying to insinuate that there is, because it’s completely false.

“Andy is a mad, passionate Rangers fan, he’s stood in the terraces, so I’ve got great respect for him. He cares deeply about making the club better, as I do, but the way it’s been handled is strange.

“When you look at my history and you’re told to stay away from the club, it does look like something more has happened, and that’s why I’ve decided to get on the radio and speak, because it’s wrong.

"I'm as committed to Glasgow Rangers as the day I signed. There's nothing at all that has altered me from that task."

  6. Cerny injury a concern for Archibaldpublished at 11:20 British Summer Time 16 September 2016

Tomas Cerny's recurring foot injury is causing the Partick Thistle manager Alan Archibald concern. The 31-year-old keeper was out at the end of last season after landing awkwardly in a match against Dundee United and had to be replaced by Ryan Scully in the first-half of last week's 2-0 Premiership defeat by St Johnstone at Firhill when the pain flared up again.

The Czech goalie has also missed several Betfred Cup games this season.

"Tomas is feeling better but we are just not sure how it is going to go with his foot.

"It is not his metatarsal but just round about there, it is just when he plants his foot. It is not an impact injury and he has had no problem training.

"It is a weird thing. He was training the best part of eight weeks and we have had no problem but when he goes out on the pitch - that's twice it has happened in four games.

"The pain has gone away a bit but it is a concern because we don't want to take the risk of playing him and we need to make a substitution because it kills us a little bit.

"We have had scans before. After the latest the surgeon thought the episodes would become less and less in terms of when they happen and when they do happen, the pain would be less and the recovery would be quicker.

"We will see what free agents are about because we don't want to be left short."

Archibald, however, views Cerny's misfortune as a chance for 23-year-old Scully to impress.
