It's a useful knack Norwich have developed, of hanging in games when they have really been second best.

The St James' park faithful boo at half time - more likely at the referee rather than at their own team. 

Having dominated the first half in terms of chances, they go in level after giving away a late penalty. 

Dwight Gayle impressed in the first 20 minutes, having a number of chances before giving the Mapgies the lead, while Matt Ritchie hit the bar.

But Norwich have held on and took their chance from 12 yards as Graham Dorrans converted a late penalty after Robbie Brady was fouled by Yoan Gouffran.

Gouffran hits a shot into the ground and into the arms of Norwich's McGovern after Shelvey's free kick is floated into the box.

Norwich need to work the ball into wide areas. The two Newcastle full-backs do not want to defend. Every time they try and go past them, they beat them.

Brady puts in a tough challenge and DeAndre Yedlin and the referee makes him the first Norwich player in the book.

Norwich win a penalty. Robbie Brady is fouled in the box by Yoan Gouffran after a corner.

It's Gayle again - this time he drives into the near post after a nice curling ball in from Jonjo Shelvey, but McGovern is there to save 

Not the start that Norwich boss Alex Neil would have been looking for. 

A goal down, and it could quite easily have been three, he must be wondering what he can do to try and stem the dominance of the home side.

That was too easy. Norwich will be disappointed with that. It's happened three or four times in the past 20 minutes - a nice, easy ball across the park. 

Dummett's cross in and Matt Ritchie heads the ball against the Norwich bar as Newcastle continue to pressurise the visitors.

It is all Newcastle at St James' Park. Norwich are riding their luck. Newcastle will wonder how they're not in front.

Dwight Gayle yet again. This time he gets on the end of an excellent Matt Richie corner, it's headed goalwards by Gayle but Norwich survive as it goes straight at goalkeeper Michael McGovern.
