Pep Guardiola is talking to the media ahead of his Manchester City side facing Celtic in the Champions League on Wednesday.

"It is my first time here in Glasgow and everybody talks to me about the atmosphere," he said.

"I am very much looking forward to that.

"It is only our second game in the Champions League and anything can happen.

"We started very well and 

"Tomorrow, the game starts at 0-0 and we will see from the first minute until the final whistle to see who is the better team."

Celtic's Scott Brown sported a cut and black eye as he addressed the media ahead of Wednesday's Champions League Group C game against Manchester City.

Perhaps appropriate considering the midfielder promised that his side were ready to show the battling qualities he thought they lacked in their opening 7-0 thrashing by Barcelona. 

"It's about getting touch tight," the midfielder said.

"We sat off Barcelona and admired them more than anything, letting them play. We need to get touch tight, get our bodies in and try ton win the battles all over the park.

"This is where this club deserves to be and we need to show that we're good enough to be here and not be in last place.

"We'll try to frustrate them more than anything. We've done that to teams here before and it's more belief than anything. We need to believe in our ability and show that we can play under pressure."

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers is convinced his players have learned the lessons of their heavy defeat by Barcelona in the Champions League. 

Rodgers' side host Manchester City in the second game of Group C and he believes his side will be more aggressive. 

"They're at the top of their game," Rodgers said of the English Premier League leaders. 

"I've watched and worked against them for the past four or five years and they've always had an outstanding group of players. 

"But the level of their play has gone up since Pep Guardiola came in, the intensity of their game has gone up and what you see now is a team working collectively with one idea. 

"When you have world-class players working to that level then, of course, they're a very hard team to contain. 

"We know it's going to be a difficult night, but we hope it's going to be a difficult night for them."

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers is suggesting it was an easy decision to restore Craig Gordon to his starting line-up - because goalkeeping rival Dorus de Vries is not fully fit.

Scotland international Gordon replaced De Vries at half-time against Kilmarnock on Saturday when the Dutchman apparently picked up a chest injury.

"He trained yesterday and today," said Rodgers ahead of the Champions League visit by Manchester City. "He's still a bit sore, but he's fine.

"Craig Gordon will start tomorrow.

"As it is for every game, I pick the team to come in and play. 

"Dorus isn't 100% after the weekend. There's no need for us to take any risk when I've got an outstanding goalkeeper beside him.

"Every single person in our squad is fit. Good to go."

Scot Gemmill has handed 10 players their first call-ups to the Scotland Under-21 squad ahead of next month's European Championship qualifiers against Iceland and Macedonia.

Under Ricky Sbragia, the Scots fell out of the running in their group in the chase to reach next summer's finals in Poland, so new head coach Gemmill has named a youthful squad for the remaining games,

Most will be eligible to play in the Euro 2019 qualifiers, which begin next September.

Goalkeepers Ryan Fulton (Liverpool, on loan to Chesterfield) and Mark Hurst (St Johnstone), defenders Kyle Cameron (Newcastle United, on loan to Mansfield Town), Alex Iacovitti (Nottingham Forest, on loan to Mansfield Town) and Zak Jules and Jake Sheppard (both Reading), midfielders Greg Docherty (Hamilton Academical), Liam Henderson (Celtic), Aidan Nesbitt (Celtic, on loan to Greenock Morton) and Ruben Sammut (Chelsea), plus forwards Ryan Hardie (Rangers, on loan to St Mirren) and Craig Wighton (Dundee) have all yet to play for the under-21s.

Craig Gordon will start for Celtic against Manchester City in their Champions League Group C match in Glasgow on Wednesday.

The Scotland goalkeeper had lost his place in recent weeks to summer signing Dorus de Vries but replaced the Dutchman at half-time during Saturday's 6-1 thrashing of Kilmarnock in the Scottish Premiership.

De Vries, who had suffered a chest injury, was back in training on Tuesday, but manager Brendan Rodgers told the media that Gordon would be back in the starting line-up against the English Premier League leaders.

It feels like just about every time St Mirren have been seeking a new manager in recent seasons, Billy Davies' name has cropped up as a possible candidate.

Indeed, it appears that at least this time that prospect got as far as a meeting with the Scottish Championship club last week following the sacking of Alex Rae.

However, former Nottingham Forest boss Davies has issued a statement to BBC Scotland saying he is no longer in the running to take over at one of the clubs he played for. 

"I show respect to every club when they approach me," said the 52-year-old. 

 "I've met the club officials a few times over the last few weeks and can confirm that, in response to press questions, I will not be taking part in the future of St Mirren Football Club."
