Sam Hutchinson looked as though he would be replaced, but he's now back out onto the field.

Huddersfield are getting hold of the ball a little more now now, and Elias Kachunga nearly picks out Nahki Wells with a cross, but the Owls clear their lines.

Adam Reach had a shot blocked out of play to win that corner a few moments ago, and it did appear to come off a Huddersfield defender's arm.

It looked accidental, but should the Owls have had a spot kick?

There's a delay in play now as Wednesday's Sam Hutchinson is down and in some pain.

Huddersfield's Rajiv van La Parra gets a bit of space down the left but overhits his cross.

Sheffield Wednesday then go down the other end, causing all kinds of problems from a corner, with David Jones' resulting cross cannoning off the top of the crossbar.

It's been a damp and grey morning in Yorkshire today, but the rain has cleared as the players walk out onto the pitch.

There's no Steven Fletcher for Sheffield Wednesday - head coach Carlos Carvalhal has said the Scotland international is dealing with a personal matter and is with his family today.

Love a stat? Here's a few to bear in mind about this lunchtime's Yorkshire derby at the John Smith's Stadium - and they might just increase the optimism of the travelling contingent.

    • After a three-match unbeaten run against the Owls, Huddersfield have failed to win any of their last five league matches against them (D2 L3).
    • The Owls are unbeaten in their last five visits to Huddersfield, keeping a clean sheet on each occasion.
    • Huddersfield have made their best start to a second tier season since 1914-15.

A mere 5,300 miles away from Huddersfield, miners in Myanmar have uncovered a jade stone (not pictured) weighing a whopping 175 tonnes - available to you for a very reasonable estimated price of £140m if you were wondering.

What's this got to do with the Championship, I hear you ask. Well, nothing, not really, but it has got me thinking about hidden gems and the players on your club who might not be getting the attention they deserve.

If Huddersfield Town are this season's surprise package in the Championship, then Sheffield Wednesday were last campaign's.

The Owls were unfancied in the summer but spent almost the whole season in the top six and ended up losing 1-0 to Hull City in the play-off final.

They're currently tenth after a mixed start and boss Carlos Carvalhal told BBC Radio Sheffield they're yet to reach last season's levels.

"We are waiting for some of our players to click and that will make a big difference," he said.

"Expectations are high but we must keep our feet on the floor because we are still in the beginning of the season.

"We are one of the strongest teams of the competition but we are not the strongest."

  11. Terriers game is mouth-wateringpublished at 11:47 British Summer Time 16 October 2016

Sheffield Wednesday’s start to the season can be seen as good, but not great, yet.

Head coach Carlos Carvalhal – by his own admission – is still trying to integrate several new recruits into the squad, whilst modifying the roles of others and as a result fans have only seen glimpses of the form that took them to the play-off final in May.

Owls fans will be hoping the international break will prove significant in that respect. The Owls boss also admits he’s still waiting for four of his top performers to recreate the standards of last season not least Fernando Forestieri, who has not looked the same since his much-publicised spat with the club in August.

That said the Owls are still a side more than capable, and theoretically more equipped, of challenging for automatic promotion. This clash with Huddersfield is mouth-watering to say the least.

Elevated from League One together in 2012, for me Sheffield Wednesday have since shown themselves to be the better equipped of the two in dealing with the demands of the higher level.

But Huddersfield head coach David Wagner, backed by a determined and generous chairman Dean Hoyle, has reinvented Huddersfield Town to suit the modern-day Championship, breathing new life into existing squad-members, and recruiting new ones that even cosmopolitan Wednesday overlooked in the European marketplace.

It’s not fanciful to hope the two longstanding Yorkshire rivals can challenge for promotion together once again.

  13. Promotion is unrealistic - Wagnerpublished at 11:41 British Summer Time 16 October 2016

While Town may have convinced reporters of their promotion credentials, it doesn't seem like head coach David Wagner is getting carried away by his side's start to the campaign.

The German told BBC Radio Leeds: "We all have to be realistic and it is totally unrealistic that Huddersfield Town will be in the Premier League next season.

"It's possible because it's football and in football anything is possible but if you ask me if it is realistic then I say no."

One an unexpected challenger at the top of the table, the other a promotion favourite struggling to find form - it's all set up for a terrific Yorkshire derby day in the Championship.

Huddersfield wouldn't have been picked by many before the season to be challenging to reach the Premier League, but they can return to the top of the table by beating Sheffield Wednesday today.

The Owls fell at the last hurdle last season, losing to Hull in the play-off final, and they had to wait until their seventh match of this campaign to pick up their first win. But four victories from their past six games suggests they're finally getting back to their best.

Let's get straight to it with the team news....
