Aitor Karanka has been a lone presence in the Middlesbrough technical area for most of this afternoon's game.

But when Marten de Roon's header flew into the net just then, there were six members of the Boro coaching staff in there to celebrate.

City have lacked ideas in the second half. Don't get me wrong, they've been in control and knocked it around, but not with the tempo you'd expect of a Pep Guardiola side, it's been very slow.

Marten de Roon also in the book for a foul. This is not good for Boro! They need to get the ball forward.

Sergio Aguero goes in the book - he booted the ball in frustration, into the stomach of Adam Clayton on the ground I think.

Aguero walks away from the ref, refusing to look at the card. 

He really does not like to miss. F for frustration.

Jesus Navas is coming off now, Aleix Garcia to shore things up in the middle over these last few minutes. At least, that's the idea for City.

Boro must gamble.

Great interception from Aleksandar Kolarov in the City penalty area. Talk about a cool head as he strides away with the ball, snatched off Alvaro Negredo's toe.

Adama Traore wastes a cross - too long seeking Alvaro Negredo at the far post. 

City build forward again but Boro remain resolute in defence. They know they won't get many more chances to draw level.

A big last 10 minutes to play. Can Boro snatch a draw? 

City will feel they need to kill this off.

What a challenge from John Stones - he nicks the ball away from Adam Forshaw's winding boot just in time after Alvaro Negredo found space to drill a cross from the right. 

Aitor Karanka takes off Stewart Downing with Viktor Fischer coming on. 

Can he make the difference? Boro are getting chances...

Midfielder Ilkay Gundogan is off, forward Nolito on to replace him. 

He can be a very dangerous pair of legs this late in the game.

Fernandinho is robbed by Marten de Roon in midfield, Boro swarm forward.

Is this the chance? Stewart Downing has plenty of  passes to choose from on but goes alone with a drilled shot to the back stick - well side. It's a waste.

Vincent Kompany just cut short his warm-up down the touchline to head down the tunnel for something.

It wasn't injury-related and he is back now, doing some stretches.

City are having all of the ball again and Boro have retreated to battle stations in the hope of sniffing one out on the counter. 

There were signs of one coming, but we've not seen many red shirts up in support of Alvaro Negredo of late. 

The home side rolling it out wide, back to centre, waiting for the weakness to appear.

Oooh. Tough chance for Sergio Aguero. 

A great cross in from Kevin de Bruyne but the striker can't keep his effort down. The openings are starting to re-appear for City now though. 

Have Boro had their best spell?

Antonio Barragan panics and heads back to a City shirt when the nod back to Victor Valdes was on. 

And Boro are almost punished as Ilkay Gundogan stabs a volley into the turf, the ball spiraling out just past the post. He's got four goals in his last two games, the Germany midfielder.
