    Liverpool 2-0 Sunderland

Jurgen Klopp is on the pitch clapping like an excited seal. He's grabbing players and seemingly telling them how much he loves them. His side are 14 matches unbeaten in all competitions. Not a vintage display but a win nonetheless.

We will keep you updated on the health of Philippe Coutinho but for now, I'm off. The match report will be up shortly and you can access that here.

Thank you for your company today. The Reds are top of the league, though Chelsea can move there in a few hours.

    James Milner

No nonsense from James Milner. He steps up right-footed and whips the ball into the left corner of the net as Jordan Pickford goes the wrong way.

Liverpool have got over the line. That's 26 shots today by my reckoning.

    Liverpool 1-0 Sunderland

There is a bit of a coming together on the touchline but nothing too serious. Jurgen Klopp is fuming at a challenge on Roberto Firmino and Sunderland's backroom team are not too happy with the German's reaction.

Klopp, always animated, has been even more so today. He looks like he's had too much caffeine. Liverpool are closing in on an 11th league game without defeat.

  6. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 78 mins

    Liverpool 1-0 Sunderland

Liverpool probably deserve it, they have been bold, though credit to Sunderland for putting up plenty of resistance.

Joel Matip heads over from a corner as Sunderland prepare two substitutes, Lynden Gooch is coming on, as is Adnan Januzaj.

    Divock Origi

They pushed and pushed through traditional means and the goal finally comes in a slightly more fortuitous fashion it seems.

Divock Origi weaved some space on the left of the area and swings in a right-foot cross which bends straight into the far corner.

Off runs the 21-year-old, sliding on his knees to the corner flag in celebration. He was the man who replaced the injured Philippe Coutinho remember.

    Liverpool 0-0 Sunderland

A look at the average positiosn this Liverpool team is taking up tells you they are going for it. Nathaniel Clyne (2) and James Milner (7) are full-backs today but have spent most of their time in advanced areas.

    Liverpool 0-0 Sunderland

Roberto Firmino gets in behind the Sunderland back four. He's in the inside-left channel and cuts a ball back across goal, no-one there to turn it in. This is not Liverpool's day it seems.

  11. CLOSE!published at 68 mins

    Liverpool 0-0 Sunderland

Sunderland have suddenly found their attacking personality and boy is this a close call. First Duncan Watmore is thwarted by Loris Karius diving at his feet. The ball stays in play and gets tossed into the six-yard box only for it to fall to Victor Anichebe. His volley is heading in but meets a pack of bodies.

    Liverpool 0-0 Sunderland

Patrick van Aanholt leads a counter-attack and again he has options but makes a hash of his pass. His saving grace is Dejan Lovren is adjudged to have tugged him back. That's a yellow for the Liverpool defender and a dead ball some 30 yards out.

Van Aanholt fancies it... into the wall.

    Liverpool 0-0 Sunderland

Emre Can has the ball on the left side of the area... to Roberto Firmino out wide. He dinks a cross in which is met by a clearing header but the ball drops to Can again... just wide. He smashes it back at goal from about 15 yards and misses by a foot. The Reds are getting closer and there is singing. Jurgen Klopp has his wish.

    Liverpool 0-0 Sunderland

As we tick over the hour, Jurgen Klopp is losing his marbles in the Liverpool dugout. He is waving his arms to the Kop, begging for more from the home faithful. As is always the case with him, his face looks aggressive and angry.

It has been quiet but it won't be if Jurgen gets his way.

John O'Shea is in the book for a foul to kill a Liverpool counter-attack.

    Liverpool 0-0 Sunderland

Trickery, magic, Dynamo-style stuff from Roberto Firmino as he progresses into the area. He cuts back onto his left peg and drills low at the near post... well held Jordan Pickford. The 22-year-old is looking accomplished.

    Liverpool 0-0 Sunderland

Jermain Defoe backs into Dejan Lovren as Sunderland have some rare possession. Lovren nods clear to Joel Matip though and Liverpool progress. Nathaniel Clyne is out wide and in comes the cross... corner. Good tracking back by Victor Anichebe who is putting a shift in.

Jordan Henderson's corner is well cleared and Sunderland threaten a break only for Patrick van Aanholt to concede possession.

Many of you concerned for Coutinho... perhaps not for the most compassionate reasons.

Jibin Mathew George: There go my Fantasy Football points. Come back soon, Coutinho.

Kartik Venkat: I am in tears over my decision to triple captain Coutinho.

Johnny Magrinho: Changed captain from Coutinho to Firmino only last night. Masterstroke decision, clearly.

    Liverpool 0-0 Sunderland

I think there's a goal coming here. Sunderland are camped in their own half. They have a flask, a tent, a fire and a survival text book.

Liverpool looking to blow the tent over and surely they will...

  20. ouch!

    Liverpool 0-0 Sunderland

That's ugly from Sadio Mane. For once Liverpool have numbers over Sunderland and as he runs at the defence, a shooting opportunity opens up but he barely makes contact. The ball trickles to Jordan Pickford.
