West Ham's last three league performances deserved more than two points but they're still in trouble.

The EFL Cup hammering at Manchester United left them looking crumpled. There's too much talk about Dimitri Payet leaving in January. A win here would have an uplifting effect.

But Arsenal are unbeaten away in the league since February and haven't lost at West Ham in a decade. They played a shadow side in midweek, will be fresher and should have too much creativity and movement. They're a better side away.

West Ham have led in each of their last three league games and haven't won any of them.

And it's zero wins in five in all competitions.

And they haven't lost in the league since the opening day against Liverpool.

But just one win in five in all competitions.

It's all about perspective, I suppose...

West Ham are missing Aaron Cresswell, Michail Antonio and Diafra Sakho through injury.

There is a 6ft 4in boost in the shape of Andy Carroll on the bench though, who has recovered from a knee problem.

Terrible injury problems suffered by West Ham, and my worry is where the goals are going to come from.

They must get some points on the board over the Christmas period. But if things don't change there will be question marks, because it's clear this squad needs bolstering come January.

  7. Fine margins...published at 17:12 Greenwich Mean Time 3 December 2016

West Ham v Arsenal (17:30 BST)

It's tighter than Santa Claus's belt down at the bottom.

One point separates 16th and 19th, with West Ham a single point above the drop zone.

A win today would lift them all the way to 13th - that would be called breathing room.

All the fall-out and reaction to today's 3pm kick-offs in the Premier League is happening over here right now.

But here's how today's results have left the top six looking.

Arsenal can pull themselves up to second - and to within three points of leaders Chelsea - with a win.

    Liverpool play Bournemouth tomorrow.

Arsenal's changes from their EFL Cup loss to Southampton are wholesale - so let's compare apples with apples and look back at their last league game.

There are two changes from the 3-1 win over Bournemouth.

Mohamed Elneny goes to the bench, while Mathieu Debuchy is out with a hamstring problem. So Gabriel and Francis Coquelin come in.

Olivier Giroud misses out with a groin injury.

Arsenal XI: Cech, Gabriel, Mustafi, Koscielny, Monreal, Coquelin, Xhaka, Walcott, Ozil, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Sanchez

  10. Carroll on West Ham benchpublished at 17:02 Greenwich Mean Time 3 December 2016

There are five changes for West Ham from the side that lost 4-1 to Manchester United in the EFL Cup.

But if you're interested in changes from the last Premier League game - there are four from the 1-1 draw against United, with Winston Reid, Edimilson Fernandes, Ashley Fletcher and Anthony Masuaku coming in.

Andy Carroll is fit enough to be on the bench after a knee problem.

West Ham XI: Randolph, Collins, Ogbonna, Reid, Fernandes, Noble, Obiang, Masuaku, Fletcher, Payet, Lanzini.
