  1. FULL-TIMEpublished at 90+4 mins

A scrappy goal settles a scrappy match but Burnley won't care about that. They're on 20 points. Halfway to safety by Boxing Day. Not bad going at all.

  3. YELLOW CARDpublished at 85mins

    Burnley 1-0 Middlesbrough

Phew. I was worried we were going to go five minutes without a yellow card there.

Jeff Kendrick has stepped up to the plate with a foul on Cristhian Stuani.

    Ten bookings and counting.

    That is absolutely superb skill.

That is why Burnely missed Andre Gray at the start of the season. He's back now and you can see his quality.

You can't teach that, instinctive finishing.

  5. goal

    GOALpublished at 81 mins

    Burnley

    Andre Gray.

That was as straightforward a goal as you will see, but it has to go down as an error by Boro goalkeeper Victor Valdes.

Tom Heaton's long punt forward was flicked on by Sam Vokes and Gray was on hand to smash an instinctive shot from 20 yards out.

However, as good as the shot was it there for Valdes to save, but the Barcelona goalkeeper somehow spilled it and the ball just crept in.

  6. YELLOW CARDpublished at 80 mins

    Burnley 0-0 Middlesbrough

    Fabio makes it nine bookings.

  7. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 75 mins

    Burnley

A final change for the hosts: Johann Berg Gudmundsson is on for Scott Arfield.

  8. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 73 mins

    Burnley

The injured Dean Marney comes off and Steven Defour takes his place.

  9. YELLOW CARDpublished at 71 mins

    Burnley 0-0 Middlesbrough

And we're up to eight bookings: Burnley 5-3 Middlesbrough.

Andre Gray - largely anonymous so far - lamps the ball away after the whistle had gone.

    Needless.

  10. Postpublished at 69 mins

    Burnley 0-0 Middlesbrough

Cristhian Stuani has just not quite been at it today.

He is presented with another opening from a corner but fails to get a telling connection with his head.

  11. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 66 mins

    Burnley

Sam Vokes comes on for Ashley Barnes.

  12. YELLOW CARDpublished at 65 mins

    Burnley 0-0 Middlesbrough

Another tasty challenge and another booking - the seventh of the game - is doled out.

Stephen Ward of Burnley is the aggressor this time with hefty tackle on Cristhian Stuani.

  13. Postpublished at 64 mins

    Burnley 0-0 Middlesbrough

A bit of saving practice for Tom Heaton there as Cristhian Stuani's header from a corner floats towards goal but never had the pace to beat the home goalkeeper.

  14. Postpublished at 60 mins

    Burnley 0-0 Middlesbrough

The already-booked Gaston Ramirez is subjected to cries of "off, off off" by some home fans after he goes in full-blooded on Ashley Barnes.

Referee Pawson rules it a mis-timed 50-50 and gives only a foul.

    Correct decision, I would say.

  15. Postpublished at 59 mins

    Burnley 0-0 Middlesbrough

Free-kick in a dangerous position for Boro here after Dean Marney handles on the edge of the Burnley area.

Ramirez is over it... but it's a horribly tame effort and Tom Heaton saves easily.

  16. YELLOW CARDpublished at 53 mins

    Burnley 0-0 Middlesbrough

Jon Flanagan is now in the book. We're up to six cautions.

The Burnley full-back was late on Gaston Ramirez as Boro won a free-kick in a dangerous area, but the hosts escaped without further punishment.

  17. Postpublished at 50 mins

    Burnley 0-0 Middlesbrough

A few half-hearted penalty shouts from the home fans there as George Boyd went down with Calum Chambers in attendance, but the replay clearly showed there was no contact between the two at all, and in fairness to Boyd he did not claim there was.

Burnley have been the aggressors in the first half here - Valdes has had a fair bit to do.

  20. HALF-TIMEpublished at 45+2 mins

    Burnley 0-0 Middlesbrough

So the referee blows his whistle to bring to an end a scrappy half of football that Burnley just about edged.

Victor Valdes had to make a couple of decent stops in the Boro goal but the best chance of the half perhaps went to the visitors when Cristhian Stuani flashed wide from 18 yards.
