Free-kick to Stoke after David Luiz clatters into Mame Biram Diouf from the Blues free-kick.

The sort of challenge that would have made an ordinary player throw up their lunch.

Ryan Shawcross was bullied at the corner by both Gary Cahill and Diego Costa. To be fair, I have played against Costa and he's always a handful isn't he? You knew you'd hobble off the pitch at the end of the game with a cut or a kick to the ankle.

To be fair though, this season he seems to have curbed that side of his game. I expect that's thanks to the influence of Antonio Conte.

I'm looking at Shawcross and thinking 'do you fancy that or not?'

Gary Cahill shows more hunger to win the ball and he gets his reward.

The stunning thing about this is that four corners in a row prior to that one, Chelsea didn't play the ball directly in. Come the fifth corner and Stoke took their eye off the ball.

Once Gary Cahill met it the goal was never in doubt.

GOAL - Chelsea 1-0 Stokepublished at 34 mins

    Gary Cahill

    It was coming.

Gary Cahill thunders in a header from Cesc Fabregas's left-wing corner. 1-0.

Moments earlier, Diego Costa brought down David Luiz's long raking ball brilliantly but instead of firing a shot tried to head a bouncing ball past the on-rushing Lee Grant.

Hazard then picked up the loose ball and smashed a shot into Grant.

It seems that lady luck was with Potters keeper...  it then deserted him.

    Chelsea 0-0 Stoke

Stoke players are not letting Chelsea players settle on the ball. Blues player possession time must be about half a second.

Chelsea's Willian goes down under a challenge about four yards from the area but ref Bobby Madley waves play on. Hmmm...

  13. Postpublished at 26 mins

    Chelsea 0-0 Stoke

Charlie Adam takes it and finds Xherdan Shaqiri with a 'training ground move' low cut-back, but the Swiss player fires over.

Moments later, Adam heads across the goal from Shaqiri's corner.

Hey, let someone else have a go you two.

Anyway, Stoke don't look like they'll lose 3-0.

  14. YELLOW CARDpublished at 24 mins

    Chelsea 0-0 Stoke

Victor Moses is shown a yellow by Bobby Madley for pulling back Erik Pieters.

Free-kick on the left and near the byeline....

Jay: What has me completely baffled is how come we haven't yet seen a clanger of biblical proportions from David Luiz this season.

There's plenty of time yet, Jay.

  16. GREAT-ISH SAVE!published at 22 mins

    Chelsea 0-0 Stoke

This time Chelsea centre-back Gary Cahill gets his head to a delivery which forces Lee Grant into making a great diving save to his left.

The Potters keeper has been a busy bee of late.

    Matter of time though?

  17. GREAT SAVE - I THINK!published at 18 mins

    Chelsea 0-0 Stoke

A lovely ball is sprayed from right to left for striker Diego Costa who leaves Mame Biram Diouf stuck in the mud with a great sidestep.

He then fires a vicious shot which thunders off Lee Grant, bounces off Bruno Martins Indi then arrives safely in the arms of keeper.

It would have been an OG if Grant was positioned elsewhere.

Chelsea are doing that thing of stringing passes together near the edge of the area and looking imperious. How annoying!

Anyway, Stoke are defending well... but hang on...

I have to say, I am very impressed with the way Stoke have approached this game. They have not parked the bus and instead are open and going for it with a really impressive tempo.

A good performance so far from Mark Hughes's men, who do not look fearful and instead are having a right good go.

But it's fizzed in low. Chelsea defender Cesar Azpilicueta manages to get a toe in to prevent Bruno Martins Indi from poking in.

The Potters have been a big threat so far.
