  2. New Saints on course for new trophy?published at 10:55 Greenwich Mean Time 14 November 2016

This afternoon's Irn-Bru Cup semi-final draw produces another first, with Welsh champions The New Saints being the first non-Scottish side to reach that stage of what was previously called the Challenge Cup.

Livingston had beaten Northern Irish champions Crusaders in the previous round, but the runaway Welsh league leaders and Champions League qualifying round regulars proved too strong.

TNS, who also defeated League Two leaders Forfar Athletic in the previous round, won 3-0 away to the side who top League One.

  3. Strachan's best man - Sounesspublished at 09:57 Greenwich Mean Time 14 November 2016

Graeme Souness is the latest former player and pundit to back Gordon Strachan to continue as Scotland boss despite a poor start to the World Cup qualifying campaign.

Strachan is expected to have talks with the Scottish FA about his future after Friday's 3-0 loss to England left the Scots in fifth place in Group F.

"Is there someone out there who could make us better? I don't believe there is," said former Scotland captain Souness.

"I think Gordon is getting the most from a very modest group."

    • Gordon Strachan has flown to Portugal to consider his future and will return on Friday for a debrief with the Scottish FA, according to the Daily Mail.
    • The Scottish FA has insisted it will have the final say, and not the national head coach himself, about whether Gordon Strachan remains in post, says The Sun.
    • Teenage Celtic midfielder Kristoffer Ajer is ready to go out on loan in January to prove he can break into the Scottish champions' first team, reports the Daily Record.
